Was McCabe at the game?

He was Def at the match. I think he will have been shocked by what he saw.

mmmmmmmmm...................i was told he was missing in action !

If he had balls he shud have spoke to the media.................mind yer on second thoughts no cause he wud just have made a cnut of himsen !

A mate of mine said he gave an interview pitchside on RS before the match kicked off?

Yeah, he did, with a piggy mate of his. Who frankly must have been pissing himself laughing after the match.

Yep... McCabe was sat up behind me with Henderson, Morgan and Ehiogu sat in front of him.

He more than heard the discontent after the match.

Wish I'd have seen him, I would have given him my Super draw card and season ticket and told him where to shove em

I wish I'd spoken to him after the match. I might not have been too polite. But I'd have been honest.

This is where, for me, we need an official supporters club to interact with the club on fan feelings and opinion. Why don't we have one!

Problem is I doubt he'd listen, he seems to do what he wants, bugger what we think, even though without us fans they'd be no club....

I'd say he has done so in previous years. Just look last at what happened to Robbo...

Part of being a successful chairman is also making the decisions over that of a normal fan, whether popular or not. Without Mr McCabe its also not out of the realms of possibility that there wouldn't have been a club, certainly not as we know it.

Foxy yer reight....................about not being a club as we know it. I wish the cnut McCabe was a pig fan and had never set foot in BDTBL. Time will tell but in my book he's a wrong un.

My point that i should have made was, he listened about Robbo, but look how long that went on for. Things change at the lane, but normally for money purposes, it's never to strenghen what we already have. Mccabe I understand is running a business, but there has to be a time when ambition should take presedent over money. Because you have to speculate to accumalate. I just feel Mccabe puts profits before taking the team somewhere. And it has felt over the last 10 years that United seems to prefer it in the Championship as it's steady money. We struggled in the premiership due to not having deep pockets.

We do have an official supporter's club, with several branches. Samantha is in the Sportsman branch. Tonyblade and I are in the Woodseats branch.
And do you know what the club do for us? Almost nothing.
For your membership fee you get a natty card, which gives you 10% off in the club shop. Which considering that every one of our branch's members has a season ticket makes it useless. You are also covered under the club's insurance at away matches. And that's it.
A few years ago we had Ron Reid and Terry Robinson attend a meeting and told us about what the academy did and the club's plans for the future. Reid spoke well, and Our Terry came across as a fat Lanc and as slippery as a greasy weasel.

We've tried to get the club to have more involvement with the official supporter's club branches, to no avail. Beryl and Pete Whitney seem only interested in pictures with the players and bunches of flowers on the pitch. (When Mr. Whitney ran the inter-branch quiz at our meeting place a few years ago he showed the kind of ineptitude usually associated with governments and bankers. I wouldn't let him run a bath.) We've suggested a small-scale open day for supporter's club members only, and got nothing. So although we are keen for our branch to continue this season will see the end of the Woodseats branch. The club used to care about these things but nowadays unless you are one of the corporate sponsors you are merely one of the faceless masses.

So what notice would they take of the official supporter's club? My guess would be no notice whatsoever.

The problem with official supporters clubs is that they only stand for a small proportion of fans that are actually members of these clubs. It was the same with BIFA... was anyone here a member? Or actually knew how to become a member?

To this day, the bloke who sets that up believes himself to be the independent voice of the fans... but to me, he's only the independent voice of himself.

The problem with them is that you are never going to get a cohesive argument when set up as a pressure group, because as this place shows, attitudes and opinions differ widely. You'd get four different groups set up all wanting different things... so who does the club listen to?

I joined BIFA! :hello: I think I got the info in one of the Fanzines, and for a while it was quite active, with regular mailings and meetings. Died away when the off-the-pitch turmoil and ownership changes disappeared.

You're the first person I've met who was :)

One of the other message boards is on about getting more politically motivated, but again this isn't for me because of the reasons I have stated before.

If someone took it upon themselves to organise things, they would risk alienating themselves from other fans and in the end, only end up acting in their own name but proclaiming themselves to be "the voice of the fans".

I wouldn't start trying to put together a manifesto to please everyone, because it simply does not exist.

I was asked to join Bifa by a relative of the main guy who set it up.

I refused......they did and would never have represented the fans as a whole.

As all the Blades forums show there are too many individual opinions to have one voice.

:)

He was playing Kerplunk in the business suite.

I am indeed... but I'll not hear a word against The Whitneys. I've never known a problem with them, Beryl's post is up for someone else to do it if they so wish, but as yet nobody has stepped forward, and I'm sure Pete's will be soon too. They do a phenomenal amount of work that we don't see or hear... Inter-Branch quiz? Well.. heh, that's another story amongst itself!! I don't go anymore, I used to participate just to make up Sportsman's numbers so they could participate.. we were runners up when it was held at Woodseats.. and what I think were InterBlades walked out 'cos they dint like it that they couldn't understand what I said, thought that I got wrong answer (cos they misheard me)... which meant that they weren't in the final.. I got a trophy as team captain (LOL) for being a runner-up!

I've got a membership card, we get classed as "official" travel and the insurance as SV said. Not much else really.. I think they now give you away match ticket priority (bit like super draw membership). There are meetings held, but I don't go as it tends to be committee only, so I can't really tell you what goes off at them, although the reports I get back tend to be along lines of what are we putting on menu for player of the year (that's another point - we get to vote for player of the year!!!).

BIFA only seem to appear when there's something juicy going on... eg. a sacking of a manager. When else do you hear from them? Does anyone know an active member?!

after the shambles, he came out and i was standing in the car park with my mate and i saw him coming out. Obviously we were a bit glum. He said keep your chins up, support the team and Never Ever Boo or be Blue.

That is the god's honest truth....I was disgusted

I'm not surprised, what a disgraceful thing to say!

reading all the posts above it really is wishy washy in terms of who stands for what. The club could make a real statement by announcing a new supporters club with a proper head, voted in by members and also plenty of benefits for it's members it would certainly let the fans know they count for a change.

I joined BIFA as well. I joined in the car park after a match, but I don't think the car park protest was about the match so much as the fact that Brealey was in charge. It was at its start when I joined (94/5). I knew quite a few of the people who set it up through the Football Supporters Association too.

There were lots of 'official' BIFA letters in the Green'Un for while too. I thought it got a bit big for its boots after a bit.
