Was a great player before he joined us.

I saw his Blades debut in a reserve match at the Lane, 100s more on the gate.

So did I, he signed me quite a few pictures outside the bar under the old John St stand.
He played for the 1st team at Stoke on 22nd Nov before the reserves match in midweek then played in the 1-1 draw at Ipswich

Not bad for a reserve match: two (eventual in one case) European Cup winners in the line ups.

And the Poundland "TC" too.

Wish we still had Cameron Carter Vickers on the books

Better than owt we've got at Centre Half, and I'm not sure why he's being compared to an alcoholic right winger.

He's really really not. But like you say, that's for another thread.

This thread got me thinking of the players who have represented us over my time attending - and putting a team together under the criteria of:

If we had them at their peak / allowed to fulfil their potential

Here we go

Tom Mcallister

Kyle Walker

Phil Thomson
Paul McGrath

John Cutbush

Jimmy Johnston

Bruce Rioch
Gordon Cowans

Ian Rush
Martin Peters

Chico Hamilton

Subs

Mel Reece
Terry Curran
Stewart Houston
Dean Saunders
Dennis Mortimer

Couldn’t think of another left back who met the criteria than Cutbush , I thought he was a good player though especially with Fulham .

I saw his Blades debut at Stoke in November 1975

Way back in 1972BB (before Blades) he was my favourite player (up and till I saw TC!) and I tried to emulate him on the pitch. The skills came easy of course it was the small, ginge Scot thing I couldn't pull off.

My favourite too

What a player he was

I got nearer to pulling off the small ginger Scott thing than emulating his skills - and I’m 6ft 2

When I say -pulling off- I am again referring to emulating , just to be clear

Remember him in the 3-0 FA Cup defeat at Leicester in Jan 76. He stank the place out that much that TC wandered away shaking his head at Johnstone's latest attempt to stand upright/control what seemed like a beachball to him/run into the advertising hoardings/generally function as a human being. He truly was a great trotting slopbucket in his time here. One of many Jimmy Sirrel masterstrokes.....

He regularly drank in the stone house on a Saturday lunch time before matches. I once saw him leave the bar at 2.00

Cutbush was a right back, Houston probably would fit in at left back.

Cutbush was an RB.
Les Tibbott I recall at LB after Paul Garner.

In the style of Bell4 I'll name a squad of players in THEIR PEAK.
I'm using only players that have played during my lifetime. 84 on...

Henderson
Walker - Jagielka - McGrath - Naysmith
Gillespie - McCall - Cowans - Speed
Saunders - Rush

Subs: Paul Parker, Gary Cahill, Graham Stuart, David Johnson, Simon Francis, Che Adams, Lee Hendrie

He regularly drank in the stone house on a Saturday lunch time before matches. I once saw him leave the bar at 2.00

I met him further down the High Street one Saturday night in the Crazy Daizy. I was with a mate, Jimmy was with Bobby Campbell, a huge Irishman who, when he put his mind to it, was the Blades centre forward at that time.

Two Englishman, a Scotsman and an Irishman were having a drink in a Sheffield bar. They all got absolutely shit-faced.

Happy times

Great memories, Bobby Campbell once got his bail paid for by SUFC to enable him to play on the Saturday afternoon?

Some team that, just missing peak Deano for me 👍. Possibly for Che or Saunders....
