Yeh and he was playing so well in that Hanson role.

Good player. Daft moment. Should have known better. Move on everybody.

Evans as a starter. No thanks, not yet.

Out of interest WWF , who would you start alongside Billy ?

Out of a bit more interest , does the Leicester game count as one of Clarkes suspensions ?

For the record , i too dont think Ched should start either . Hes simply not quite ready yet .

Agree Ched doesn't look like he's up to speed yet
HOWEVER against Barnsley it was his worse performance and he was playing a lone striker role with his back to goal.
The game against Walsall was his best performance and in that he was playing advanced right side midfield, he linked with midfield really well and was more mobile finding space.

So maybe Ched prefers to play a little deeper where he can lose his markers and run on to balls.

Thats a good call Sheff .

3 - 5 - 1 - 1 or , if you prefer 5 - 3 - 1 - 1 .

It always confuses me this one . Do wing backs count as midfielders hence 3 - 5 - 1 - 1 or are the classed as defenders , so 5 - 3 - 1 - 1 .

Maybe this is all redundant discussion anyway . We might not have any option at all . Hansons out , Clarkes out and Lavary ????

You are of course right under normal circumstances - but with Clarke getting an auto 3 match, we have to have a replacement. True, Evans is not match fit - but starting a game v Derby and giving him lets say 60/65/70 mins might be what is needed to bring him on. Just think what a goal in the 1st half v Derby would do to his confidence.

I'll give you an option here: If Evans plays the first 60/65 mins v Leicester and then comes off regardless - whatever the score, then take that as a sign he could start v Derby.

Sorry, no Blades player should qualify in a wanker situation.

It's similar to me to Mcnulty being put in the same phase/sentence as the word cunt.

For me - It's not on. Some of our players may be poor or have issues, but it crosses a red line.

Our Leon contributed more than Evans during his time on the pitch. We definitely had the old Championship Evans out there rather than the League One version.
What's happened to Lavery - is he injured?

Things happen in the heat of battle.
Wanker of the week no way

Lavery and Evans, with Brooks and another academy player to replace them on 60 mins. This should count as a suspension game too. Fuck the cup. We ain't got the squad for a cup run

The OP, by the post, achieved the title.

I'm sure only a couple of seasons ago we bemoaned the lack of players with "fight". Once we have them we have to accept the occasional discretion. Leon is not a wanker, he's a professional player who wears our shirt.

In important games? In this Cup couldn't care a toss.

Clarke. Hanson and Lavery have both been disappointing. I never liked Evans when he was here last. OK for L1 but never got a kick in this league, much like last Saturday despite tired legs from those on the pitch all game.

Has to be Clarke. Still hopeful Lavery meets his own standards before long. Brooks/ Carruthers maybe in a slightly different role. Thomas is interesting in a different formation.

It's hard to find anyone to play in a partnership with Sharp though.

Thought Clarke played really well until he got sent off. Evans did absolutely nothing when he came on. I'd be interested to know how many times he actually touched the ball.

Exactly the same as his role at Cardiff when he came on. He often went deep/wide in 2012 .

No doubt CW has spotted this but had no real alternative as Billy tired on Saturday

You are right he didn't touch it much - think the reason was just a bit of pace with Evans and Brooks to try and worry Barnsley's back 3. They were playing a very high line during the last 15/20 minutes chasing the game.

Yeh I can totally understand why CW brought him on, it just didn't work though. If we're wanting a bit of pace to take advantage of the opposition playing a high line then for me, it's got to be Lavery.

Hasn't CW said that Ched is now in front of Lavery in the forward pecking order?

Lavery came from S6 with this myth of pace, but have we actually witnessed it in games?

I'm probably gonna be in a minority of one when I say I thought the sending off was a bit harsh on Clark .Both go shoulder to shoulder MacDonald swings arm back into Clark's face not in a deliberate action , yes Clark reacts no exactly ragging him all over the place but grabs him ( hardly squeezing the life out of him ) just pointing out the error of his ways , MacDonald again then decides he'll stick his head into Clark .
Clark goes down on either of MacDonalds actions and he's gone as most of the foreign imports do in our game for coming into contact with a shadow , Clark doesn't , yes he reacts but doesn't over react .. don't hang him out to dry for that .

For me MacDonald red , Clark Yellow .

Before anyone says you can't grab a player nowadays , how come the ref doesn't send off 6 players then when there's a hand bag melee ?
So my wanker of the week is a joint prize between the Ref & Barnsley Centre Half ...

I'm really not sure that much, if anything, should be read into the 15 minutes that Ched was given yesterday. Brought on at the point of the match when the midfield stopped looking to create and started to drop back towards the 18 yard line as United plainly decided to settle for what they'd got. Difficult to have much of an impact in those circumstances, albeit he still managed to get himself into the perfect position to score what would surely have been the second goal had Brooks managed to spot him in the box rather than shoot after his run into the box.

In different circumstances, namely being brought on when the team has been on the front foot when behind against Walsall, Boro, and Cardiff, Ched has been excellent with clear signs of the strength and thumping shot that he possesses.

Fortunately, I'm sure the manager will focus on those 3 promising cameos rather than the 15 minutes in thankless circumstances yesterday.
