Can someone please please tell DW and the board that we need a striker that can score goals. Ched did ok once flynn came on but still didnt score and the less said about Porter the better. Now I am not going to bang on about Beattie being the answer but he is available and would be better than the current crop of forwards (cant call them strikers) We need to act fast or we will be miles behind come January. I still think we should be there or there abouts come May provided we can get someone to find the back of the net

This is all based on the over expectation that we should be in the mix for automatic promotion this season.

The start to the season has blinded some to the rebuilding job which is required. At the start of the season I said we should aim for midtable to playoffs, and my opinion hasn't changed.
IF we have significant funds available in January, then I would suggest playoffs and maybe a push on the top 2. As it stands we are ahead of the curve, regardless of the next couple of results.

BDTBL is an absolute disgrace.......................... 3rd Division is not where we shud be.

Sorry BB, not buying today. Go sell crazy some place else. :D

A decent forward is all we need to be able to challenge for promotion.

Regardless of rebuilding jobs or whatever else, this division is very poor.

In my opinion you can get by at that level with a goal scorer.

It doesnt take much to beat most sides and the better ones aren't up to much either.

Rebuilding implies that there is actually something structured and coherent going on at the club, but it isn't.

So far we have scatched around for free transfers in the close season, one of whom I am happy with (MacDonald), one of whom is at best adequate (Jean-Francois), one of whom is unimaginably bad (Porter).

Thank God our only transfer fee has absolutely set the world on fire (Flynn).

How is it possible to have any confidence in the scouts or Wilson's ability to pick a player when this is what they come up with?

We have accidentally unearthed a good player in Tonne who scores pretty much every time he plays in a fraction of the time he is on the pitch as our strikers and then he can't get in the team.

We sold Slew (this is the opposite of rebuilding). We have three other strikers, one of whom is too old, one of whom is going to jail, one of whom is Porter. We now routinely see nippy strikers from lesser teams get behgind our defence and score week after week and Porter was thes striker we came up with.

Macallister was hauled off after 20 minutes at Scunthorpe and is never seen again, but Doyle can have no impact on any game for weeks on end and is made captain! We still persevere with the stupid notion that whatever happens, whoever we play, if you are a defensive midfielder then you are guaranteed a first team start. How is a midfield of Donty and Macdonald going to get up the field to support the strikers? One of the best parts to Williamson's game is the late arrive in the box to knock the ball in the net - we have him playing on the wing.

We have done nothing to change the fact we have an appalling keeper, despite the fact it has been an obvious priority for over a year. We made this keeper and the other players most directly responsible for our relegation fixtures in the side because it was the soft-hearted 'clean-slate' cheap option.

The Huddersfield game was a reality check, the Charlton one was the wheels coming off.

Good thread this one.

I think Wilson has got to freshen it up now, with the likes of Tonne, Flynn, Parrino and McAllister. And perhaps try a few positional switches like Lecs at centre back, Williamson in central mid. Let's see if we can get back on track before the transfer window - hopefully then more sensible re-structuring and team building will take place to make us more competitive in the long run.

I don't think Flynn is that bad. If you look at Arfield at Hudds (a similar sort of player), he has taken a long while to get used to the pace of English football and only now (about a year after signing) is he producing for them.

I still have faith in Danny, I think he did well to come in and lift the spirit around the place.

His signings seem to have been hit and miss so far, but we cant have expected world beaters.

You get what you pay for and we wont pay, Danny can only work with what he is given.

I agree with the last post though, it needs freshening up.

I would like to see Parrino, McAllister and Tonne all given a chance. Maybe even Philliskirk.

Will it be a maximum of five changes from the start tomorrow? How about:

Long
Lowton Parrino Collins Jean-Francois
Flynn McAllister McDonald Quinn
Tønne
Evans

With Flynn, Tønne and McAllister hopefully adding a bit more movement?

Simonsen
Lowton Maguire Parrino Jean-Francois
Flynn McAllister Montgomery Quinn
Cresswell Tonne

Long
Williams
McDonald
Mendez-Laing
Philliskirk

Would go with that tomorrow night. Bit of enthusiasm and movement.

If they put on a good showing, play the same side against the pigs.

Not a bad line up. I don't suppose you'll be that far off with the line-up. Wilson has shown willing to throw the younger players into this competition. If they do well though I would like to see them keep their places - instead of Doyle, Creswell, Porter etc being brought straight back for the next league game...

Monty MUST play tomorrow night. He needs a full 90 minutes to get him match fit.

How far we've sunk.

DW: "We'll be putting out the strongest team we can against Rotherham. We take this competition seriously."

Might be unchanged apart from Monty coming in then? If so, a missed chance to see what we've got in reserve?

Managers always come out with this rubbish. We wont be putting out our strongest side. He will have one eye on the derby and ill be suprised if there are less than six changes from saturday.

Don't forget that the rules dictate that more than half the team that started the last game will have to start vs Rotherham. Besides that the derby will be 12 days after the Rotherham match, so there shouldn't be a reason to rest anyone.

What a post - Absolutely nalied it - Brilliant
Whilst many are divided about Wilson - the overiding view is that Porter was probably Wilsons worst signing by a country mile ! but for me the others are not far behind!
Give Tonne, Philliskirk and McAllister a run out can't be any worse than the shower of shite that played on Saturday!!

Isnt it that you can change 6 from the previous game but if the player coming in has played over 75% then that doesnt count as one of them.

I would rest Porter - preferably for the rest of the season
Why on earth have we signed him - cannot see any redeeming feature - worse than Cresswell and Evans - now that is bad!!!

Great post, bang on the mark with everything you say. Is Danny to be trusted with further signings?
