to be Captain of Sheffield United! Was proud to be part of the team that took 7,000 Unitedites to Coventry in our first season in The Premiership.
Vinnie Jones was proud!
We need pride!

That's harsh.
As far as I remember, when we played Coventry that year, the Premiership hadn't come into existence.
Just a minor point but every little helps.
 



Lenners, just for your info, Brian Deane scored the "FIRST" goal in The Premiership. Are you sure your on the right forum?
Plus, stop staying that's a bit harsh, you sound like "BLEATING BENNETT"!

Ian Rush was certainly a more famous (and infinitely better) footballer than Jones. I'm not sure that Jones subsequent acting tours de force and criminal exploits might not just shade it in his favour.

Rush was one of the truly great goalscorers in his prime. That, naturally was long before his brief cameo with us.

When you said Vinnie Jones earlier, you actually meant Brian Deane.
Got it, sorry I couldn't keep up.
And I'm pleased that this site's entering the realm of the surreal.
We've had the return of dinosaurs, Stamford talking about some bloke being laid off in the pub and now this. All in one night.

Well I can't sleep so a bit of triviality serves to amuse. A front 3 of Rush, Cresswell and Glen Little would stand out a mile!

Presumably he's referring to the end of season game on 4/5/91 in the old D1 when we drew 0-0 (2 seasons before the PL started).

Incidentally Jones' last game for us was also at Coventry in the 3-1 defeat on 28/8/91.
