The truth clearly hurts and yes it does hurt me I absolutely despise Villa with a passion but the truth is they have invested in real premier league quality and getting Barkley on loan for them is a master stroke.

Yes he is.....he’s just missed a really easy chance...just the keeper to beat.
We played them the other day with 10 men and could easily have won if Lunny scored the penalty.

And if we had another £50m to spend, we could buy a couple that would pretty much guarantee our safety too, but we haven't, so what's your angle?

Can't spend what you don't have, might be in the same league but it's not a level playing field. Just have to get over it.

They’ve spunked the thick end of £250M and that’s not including the wages they’ve thrown around. As I said at the start of the season, it takes some talent to spend that and waste it all, especially when you already have Grealish. They’re not who we should look to compete with anymore than Everton, Wolves or Leicester.
We just don’t have that level of resources to compete consistently.

It’s strange. I have a dislike for Villa at the moment but years ago I didn’t mind them. At the end of the day they are recruiting very good players and have the money to do it.
 
Fact of the matter is Villa massively underachieved last year, by an insane margin.

They look to have recruited well (albeit expensively) and will end up comfortably midtable, even top half this season.

We on the other hand massively over achieved last season and have strengthen the squad but so far not really the first 11 (Brewster aside).

On paper and on grass at the moment they are a much stronger side than us.
 
Sorry, but anyone wanting to disagree with the merits of not trying to defend for 90 minutes...7???? That's 7. Come on. And we all know, Villa aren't even that good.

I believe they are paying all of Barkley's wages according to reports, reputably £110,000 per week.

I am going to guess that is more than twice as much as any SU player.

Our midfield haven’t got one bit of creativity in it, we’re crying out for a Barkley/Grealish kind of player someone who can make something happen
 
It is what it is Swindon and it would be fool hardy to gamble on the future of the club to spend what we can not afford.

I still believe we can stay up, in a mini league with Fulham, WBA, Burnley & W Ham possibly add Brighton in to the mix.

Early days yet.

Waste it all? Watkins has just scored a hat trick and Cash is first choice right back...whereas McBurnie cost 19m and isnt first choice, Moose has proven to be a waste of money and we spent 11m on tje Derby boys who can't get on the bench. There's 40m quid spent for you for what ?

Not a prayer
At our absolute, absolute, absolute very very very best we were incapable of doing what Villa have done today.

We'd have got a freak 1-0 up against a terribly out of sorts Liverpool, thought all our Christmas's had come all at once, and then sat back with our inferiority complex until the inevitable happened.

Normal service would be resumed and we'd lose the game, people would then be high fiving and tossing each other off about how we played well against Liverpool

Ignoring the other stuff, how is Moose a waste of money? 6 goals 4 assists for 8/9m is bloody fantastic. And now he's got ligament damage, is that his fault?

McBurnie cost £17m, don't know why people add money on to make us look worse.

Is what it is really not surprising Villa have splashed the cash they have a billionaire owner you get what you pay for.

Fair play to Dean Smith for going for Watkins.
 
What a shame for Villa if the season is curtailed null and void.

Congratulations you entirely missed my point.
It’s practically impossible to spend £250m in Villas position and waste it all.
They’re not who we’re competing with so it’s daft to pretend that we are.
I dream of a day when Wilder gets £100M+ a season to take us forward.

We proved last season that money isn't everything
The change has been in our own teams attitude and ambition

Whether that's the players not doing what they were doing before or whether Wilder has adopted the tactics of every other of our failed managers I don't know.

But there is a marked difference in our style of play, obviously shown because of the total and complete lack of entertainment, regardless of results
