The Graun never seem to say anything bad about us, but I think we've got a few men on the ground at Guardian Towers as it were :D

Sheffield United. Your fans were brilliant, your team did you proud. Well organised, well disciplined, no little skill. You got exactly what you deserved and I wish you nothing but the very best for the season. Good hunting.

Us. Words fail me. We were out played, out-fought and out-thought for pretty much the whole game. I would really quite like to see us win something again, and an FA cup would have been smashing. Hells, I would much rather win something and get relegated than just aim for survival.

Yes, our line-up was quite strong. But not one player out there seemed to give a fig about the game; Lambert's comments may have been 'misinterpreted', but there didn't seem a great deal of interest in actually winning that game. Also, how Benteke missed that header is beyond me.

I must say, that having looked on various websites and forums, the Villa fans have been extremely complimentary about United and our travelling support. Kudos to them, it will have been a bad bad day for them yesterday.

Look silly? Haha. Of course it's relevant. A fit and match sharp Benteke would've taken at least one of his chances, his two headers were gilt-edged chances.

It's relevant when we say Miller & King aren't match sharp so why not Benteke?

Don't get me wrong I'm absolutely over the moon with the victory but I'm not going to blinker-up and say we didn't ride our luck at times. I honestly think Porter would've scored those chances.. Is Porter better than Benteke? No.
 
We were outstanding, it is probably one of the overall best United performances I've seen for about ten years.

We had a game plan, be disciplined, defend as a team, nobody do anything daft and then when we have the ball, play it forward and attack in numbers and width.

It was so enjoyable to watch. Even if we'd had lost or drawn it would have taken the obvious gloss off it but watching us counter attack was very refreshing, bearing in mind the boot is usually on the other foot at Bramall Lane.

I work with Villa fans and I've seen a bit of Villa myself. No great revelations from me as I'm sure it's already been mentioned but they play on the counter attack which is why they've had so many poor results at home this season against the likes of Sunderland and Palace, yet decent away results at the likes of Arsenal and Southampton. They can't break down teams at Villa Park. Sadly, I think Lambert's days are very much numbered.

One thing which I think we were fortunate about though is the absence of Abongalor, I think had he started or come off the bench our slow back line would have struggled.

Proper club Villa, decent fans, great ground and good history.

Special praise for me goes to Maguire and Doyle both who I thought didn't put a foot wrong all game. Credit to every player though, they all stuck to their tasks exceptionally well. Ryan Flynn, you will never score a better goal.
 
Reading those Villa fans' comments, their bits about their own club sound remarkably like echos of our own comments on the Blades over the last few seasons.

I've explained twice now why it's manifestly irrelevant. It is your failure to appreciate the obvious that is now making you look silly; I did try to save you from yourself. I suggest you either listen to common sense and learn something or amuse yourself elsewhere. I cannot assist you any further.
