We desperately need some explosive pace up top. If we could reshuffle our pack get rid of Clarke, Mcnulty and Done and get in Hanson and some pace upfront I'd be happy enough. Just Hanson and no one else is a mistake, we don't have a partner suited for him.

Hanson.... wow! Living up here in Bingley I have a lot of mates who follow 'Bratfud'. One of rose mates (who knows his football) texted me this morning about the rumour we were after big James. Said he'd happily drive him to BDTBL and accept "a bag of oranges" in return.

We need better than 'Tesco' Hanson. Truly.
Would he require a bag of nice spanish navels or some left over xmas satsumas, usually we can't afford the former.

Totally. The system is as much at fault as the players. Basham and EEL don't have the mobility to play in a back 3 when the opposition hit the channels and then turned. O'Connell gets exposed as our LB has gone AWOL over the past 3 or 4 games.

I've said it for a while, pace can cover a lot of misdemeanours and sadly we lack pace at the back.

I hope Riley is going to be the LWB going forward, as If Done is the answer, I'm fucked if I know what the question is.

We have lacked pace in many areas of the pitch for a long time.

That is why Done stands out to us as he actually has some pace despite no end product.

The not putting chances away theme is getting a bit familiar. He's going to have to accept our players are not clinical enough and get other finisher/s in.

I was pretty sure that Wilder made the comment soon after arriving that Done wasn't a wing-back. I nearly found an article to back this up:

http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spor...rs-matt-done-s-plea-to-move-forward-1-8000831

If this is the case why is he playing there?

Before you all start this is not having a go at Wilder, it is however questioning why he's going back to doing something that he was critical of the Adkins regime for.

Can't believe Wilder is thinking of bringing Hanson in even though some messageboard experts told him it will be a mistake.

Close down the message board! The answer to every post is "Wilder is always right"

Although that isn't the answer, the reality is he knows a damn sight more than you.

It not just United fans though is it, the Bradford fans aren't exactly full of praise for Hanson either.

As I said in another post, Adkins, Clough and Weir know more than most on here, should we have blind faith in every manager and not question any decision they make?

There's questioning, and then there's just hysteria. Reading some of the comments on here since last night, we've gone straight to ridiculous, over the top hysteria.

TE="raul, post: 1206317, member: 2405"]Struggling to think of any bad misses in front of goal. Did he lash his defenders for their lack of determination?

If not then he's not a winner.[/QUOTE]
Absolutely agree. I have every faith in CW but if he thinks the problem yesterday was up front then that worries me. We scored 2 goals at home but drew because the defence gave away to really poor goals from the opposition's first 2 meaningful forays into our half.

Absolutely agree here mate ....... for whatever reason its just not worked out with Clarke ...... its just not happening for him and we cant afford to be too patient if we want to escape from this Division ( and this is the best opportunity we've had for a while )

Getting shut of Clarke, McNulty and Done and replacing them with Hanson ( or similar ) and some raw pace and strength ( plus some skill ...... we don't want to play Blackwell style hoofball ) would see us with a good chance of promotion I would suspect.

It's not hysteria though is it? This is just a typical message board reaction to a signing or potential signing in this case.

Hysteria would be threats to boycott the lane, protests in the car park or booing him onto the pitch.

We all know that should he sign, we'll all be behind him and hope he succeeds. No Blade will be wanting him to fail!

Until then we're all free to discuss the signing and not take the view that Wilder is perfect and should never be questioned.

Finally for the record I think Hanson is shit but I've been wrong before and I'm always happy to be wrong if it means SUFC are successful! :)

It is though.
On this thread alone I've already discovered that we won't finish top 2 if we sign him, we'll change into a long ball route one team, the board aren't ambitious enough to back Wilder and that he's losing it.

Been reading a few quotes from Bradford fans on Twitter about Hanson and he does seem to have as many fans as haters. One thing I didn't like the sound of is that he has been getting lots of injuries of late. On a positive note though the Bradford fans say he puts in 100% ever game which is something you can't be sure of with Clarke.

Burton are apparently in for him too by the way

Ideal impact player for me. Hope it's not a long contract but he might be the type we rely on to give us something different when defences are as compact as what we're seeing. Never been a massive goalscorer but I can see him contributing with the right service.

The difference between us and Bradford is that at Bradford, Hanson is the main (or one of the main strikers). Here he would be an option rather than a focal point for attacks. We don't currently have a proper target man type, I've been surprised how little Clarke wins in the air. Yesterday's game was crying out for someone to make a nuisance of themselves when they had 10 behind the ball and we don't currently have that. Unless Duffy and Coutts can pass a way through bodies we will struggle to score too many goals. Don't get me wrong we have found gaps late on in defences but why not have someone like Hanson to cause havoc in the opposition box we may find that if nothin else it opens up space elsewhere on the pitch for our quality to shine through. We've moaned about signing has beens from the leagues above us and now we are signing probably the best target man in this division. Billy will always be the main striker but why not give our attacks another dimension. Hanson won't get 30 goals a season but he does win headers for fun. I do however agree on the defence maybe a shake up is due but the same defence earlier on on the season wasn't too leaky perhaps this is just a bad patch which all players have else they wouldn't be playing in League 1. So I don't think signing defenders and throwing them in and expecting instant success is the right way to go we proved this last season chopping and changing all the time. Get Wright in the side and sign Hanson and I will see that as a very successful JTW. UTB

Listening to Wilder's interview he does criticise the defence, he talks about poor tackles for the first and gets quite angry about how him and Knill could have gone home at 1.30 in the week as they went through the threat of the long throw and how badly they had defended it.
I thought it was only Billy who seemingly had got away without criticism
