The ability to score goals is the only reason we've got to this position. The "If the defence is so shit then why are we top?" argument is utter bollocks. The simple answer is that it has fuck all to do with the defence.

Totally. The system is as much at fault as the players. Basham and EEL don't have the mobility to play in a back 3 when the opposition hit the channels and then turned. O'Connell gets exposed as our LB has gone AWOL over the past 3 or 4 games.

I've said it for a while, pace can cover a lot of misdemeanours and sadly we lack pace at the back.

I hope Riley is going to be the LWB going forward, as If Done is the answer, I'm fucked if I know what the question is.

Good to hear CW has told them like it is.
Know lots of Bradford fans living where I do and yet to find one who would be sad to see Hanson go. That said would be very happy to see them eat their words.

Swap one useless lump for another? Seems pretty pointless to me especially when we'll be paying a fee.

They are quite different. If we wanted a striker to replace Sharp I'd stick with Clarke, clearly a better goal scorer, more suited to be the 'main man'. If we wanted one player to supplement Sharp/Lavery/McNulty/Done, then Hanson would quite possibly make more of a difference. Let's wait and see - if he does sign.

Having said that, starting with Sharp and Hanson would be too slow and immobile for me.

Do you honestly think Hanson is the type of striker to partner Sharp?

I said it last week and will say it again, Done is no LWB. Its a square peg in a round hole. We had all this last season with players out of position.

Done is no LWB and Basham is not a centre back. These are not my words they were CW saying it when he arrived.

Very disappointed with today.

Hanson. Sorry Chris but you've got that one wrong mate.

We need far better than him if we want promotion.

Like Neil Shipperley? Remember similar comments when he signed.

Hanson is not a goalscorer but he is a handful in the air and offers a plan b when pass, pass, pass isn't working.

Hanson is another Clarke but he can head a ball.......

I have heard Clarke is injured yet again and this could be the reason for the signing. Hanson does give us the direct option we don't have if Clarke is injured.
Lets hope the contract is sensible and we are not stuck with the pair of them for two and a half years.

Lastly, lets not forget we are still under the same budget restrictions we had last Summer, hence Hanson.

Just watched Chris's post-game talk and he is incandescent with the forwards for not putting the chances away. This guy is a winner!!

Hope we don't get 'elbows' hanson. Clarke isn't working so try to get someone in who is much worse than him at his role??

On the rest of the interview, good to hear the players got told. Although I'm not sure how first 11 remained unchanged

Struggling to think of any bad misses in front of goal. Did he lash his defenders for their lack of determination?

If not then he's not a winner.

We need a player like Hanson as an option - it's the option I thought Clarke would be but he's not done it.

I'd rather it was someone better than Hanson, but I've not seen the budget....

But with Shipperley we had the pace and power of Kabba and Webber to line up along side him. Sharp and Hanson would be far too slow

Clarke has looked strangely out of sorts since he arrived. Doesn't feel like he's part of the team. Seems to lack energy on the field as well for some reason.

I can just see it now. We bring in Hanson and Clarke goes the other way. We lose out on automatic promotion and face Bradford in the PO final. Clarke nets the winner (he loves scoring against us) and the rest is history...

You forgot Ched scoring the winner at the Lane in the last minute to deny us automatic promotion on the final day.

The football gods are still alive and well judging by the last few weeks

I get the impression that most of the Hanson haters have not really seen him play more than once.
How many times this season have teams filled the last 3rd and we have run out of ways of getting the ball to our forwards when 21 players are blocking any room at all in the box. we got away with it once by Coutts just smashing a ball across goal and getting lucky ,but even the best teams in the world struggle to break this down. An alternative would be to sign the best header and arguably strongest player in the league and with the quality we have put a decent cross in for him to win ,to either score or create for the other players. Put some thought into it ,instead of 'hes shit' ,'they are shit' ,'some nob on a messageboard says he shit' .
Surely another option is a no brainer ?
Look at his goals on the montage ,there are some cracking shots too ,he can play.

I thought that the final ball and finishing was pretty poor today as I think it has been for the past 5 or 6 games. We should have been 2 or 3 up by half time at least given the chances that we had. Second half there was another 3 or 4 good chances that the keeper either saved as he could get a hand to them (albeit good stops) and at least one point black header that should have been finished. Add to that the two goals that were given offside when the player finishing the chance was looking along the line. I haven't seen the replays and from the Kop I had to trust the linesman but there is no way that they should have been offiside and the game would have been won.

Don't use the word hater mate ,it comes a cross a bit honey g

We desperately need some explosive pace up top. If we could reshuffle our pack get rid of Clarke, Mcnulty and Done and get in Hanson and some pace upfront I'd be happy enough. Just Hanson and no one else is a mistake, we don't have a partner suited for him.

But you don't just pick one pairing to play a single game , let alone a season. We have to mix it up as our forwards are all a bit samey atm ,then we can change things game by game or during a game. Lavery on for Done ,McNulty on for Lavery ,Clarke on for Sharp etc, there isn't a lot of point most of the time.
