The perceived obsession with ‘BDM’ is funny. I’m in my 40s and it was way before my time. I have zero connection to it or any itch or yearning to ‘avenge it’. Younger fans, bothered even fcking less.

Bar a few slick moments and finishes, today was a poor performance. Of course I’ll always want to beat them 25 nil, but our own discipline spared any embarrassing scoreline. Still, more than content enough with another notch on the steel city bed post. The ale is going down nicely 😁 but attentions now on Tuesday

They’re views aren’t worth a wank .. goodnight & enjoy Northampton away next..tootle pip 😉⬇️⚔️
Just to be a bit pedantic, Northampton are struggling a bit and might be going down. A trip to Bromley is looking on the cards though.

Pity Rovrum are suffering so much. If Chezvegas could get through the play off that League One could have them two, Barnsley, Donny and pigs in it.

So which camp do you lads fall in: over-celebrating our cup final or devastated it wasn't 6-0?

Personally, the only thing dampening my day is that I'm on medication and can't have a beer with it.

Thank you Roygbiv

Unfortunately, they are right, this was our chance to avenge the BDM and we blew it.

Great to send them down but it feels shallow.
Yeah, me too. Wait a minute, no, I’m over it already.

Seriously, the way I felt after Phillips was sent off and they got a goal back, with all those United insecurities plus memories of Sunderland at Wembley going around my head, I was bloody delighted with the outcome.

The deflection away from their current reality is both understandable, but also truly pathetic.

So many clinging to 1979 like a security blanket. So many calling us embarrassing for conceding. All of them claiming we didn't send them down, and it all happened weeks and/or months ago.

But it didn't.

The vast majority of the country (self included) wasn't even born in 1979, so those scruffy turds wearing it like a medal, when they realistically were not alive to even see it, is just sad.

And no matter how they sugarcoat it, we did send them down. Exactly the same as how Barnsley sent us down in 2011. And no matter how much smoke they blow, that will never change.

Bouncing Day massacre nullified the BDM and now they think they have had a good day in reality my little piggy friends

Today you lost to ten man United
Today you got relegated to League One by United at Lane

Dwell on that next season you deluded wankers

Thanks Roy

They are still wa**ing themselves silly over 1979 should we do the same over 1951??. Most of them were not even born in 1979. They have short memories remember as we got promoted from Div1, no chance, la liga, relegated by Easter.
Just flicked through the media and I see no mentions of the BDM/1979 in them - all I can see is pics relegated by their bitter rivals Sheff United. Clearly we and the media have got it all completely wrong. #fakenews

They’re right

We had a chance to totally humiliate them

We didn’t

We blew it - we blew that chance

Fact
jeez we need to drop this attitude , 1) makes us look entitled , 2) anything can happen in a football match !! 3) We won ffs , we made history sent them down at the Lane , a double derby victory in the season and got 3 points !!!! 4) some people look at the negative even when we win unbelievable really !

Their ability to collectively decide on a positive narrative on the fly is truly astounding. That’s the FOURTH derby on the bounce (haha) we’ve turned them over, this time sending them back to the doldrums of the third tier where they belong, and apparently we should all be devastated because our 10 men couldn’t put 6 goals past them.

We may share a city but they clearly hog the entirety of Sheffield’s deludamol supply. Good riddance.

UTBFTP

It doesn't matter how many we won by today - they will never stop crowing about beating us in the 3rd tier in 1979.

Conveniently forgotten about the Bouncing day massacre only 9 years ago, but can remember a game from 47 years ago 🤣

BDM really hurt them and little did they know that when that fourth went in from Clarke, it was the start of Red and White dominance in this city. They have never recovered, but they will never admit that.

Enjoy being replaced by Lincoln City you scrubbers 🥰

To quote CW before the game, “so many things we can control” one of them being attitude and working for each other which I thought we did well today. We looked in control of the game all game really, O’Hare hit the post and we had bags of other opportunities where realistically we should have done better, 2-1 flattered them “massively”, I don’t think anyone would have been surprised with the opening 25-30 mins performance if that would have ended 3 or 4-0 but it didn’t and under Wilder we have learnt to grind out results. Pompey away, Ipswich at home and this one all huge in their own right.

Can’t not mention the negatives though although Phillips should have “controlled” that challenge better, he didn’t and it was a deserved red card and ill discipline could have cost us. He has to hold his hands up to that and even at his age learn from it. On to their goal, it travelled along way with the initial cross from their left that wasn’t attempted to be stopped, we were caught so narrow and ball watching, I think (not blaming Cooper as it was a decent goal) but the 2 defenders in front of him could have done better at putting themselves on the line a bit to try and stop the shot. I imagine that will go under the microscope a little bit as we can’t afford to give Cov that space on Wednesday night.
