Watford weren’t bad tbf but never tested Cooper all game. Our defence was great and on another day we could’ve scored more, teams are still gelling so early days but love a win with a clean sheet. 5 yellow cards a bit concerning although I didn’t think we were any dirtier than them minus Hamer’s tactical tackle. Anyway UTB we move on.

Well we got drawn into their antics of leaving one on our players off the ball. It was going to get heated eventually. Sissoko was allowed to clobber our lads for most of the match.

People don't have make up some rubbish. Wilder allegedly stirring it before the match. Where? He was complimentary of Watford as a club, of their manager and of his time there. He was very respectful.

I assume re: Jebbo? said it in the presser, that he hoped that Jebbo would get a hostile welcome back at the Lane.

“I hope we make it as hostile as possible and he gets a proper Bramall Lane reception, which you'll possibly understand by my tone. He's an opposition player and he's coming in to our backyard. I'm sure everybody will understand my feelings towards it”

They've been fucked up the arse , there obviously a little sore !!

Some brilliant, funny and strange comments all at the same time, “Souttar will give Frankenstein a run for his money”. 😁

O’Hare looks like he’s come straight from a girly spa weekend – those eyebrows!”😁

Frankenstein is the young scientist who creates the sapient creature in an unorthodox scientific experiment too.

Seems that post-match delusion is hitting strong with this lot.

They were shite, didn't force Cooper into a save all game, and spent most of the match making snidy fouls. A 2-0 or 3-0 scoreline would have been reasonable based on the amount of chances we had, and how ineffective they were.

Certainly the worst performance against us so far this season. Worse than Preston as these had already won 3 of 3 in the league, so really should have put up more of a fight than that.

S6 level of delusion if they think they deserved a point from that game ............ one shot all game that hit the post was the sum total of their efforts. On chances we could have won by three clear goals. My only worry is the lack of goals from up front the game really should have been put to bed a lot earlier.
It’s not a lack up front, but the inability to turn opportunities into chances.

'The ref was horrific, blew up over every bit of contact and let them get away with some dirty challenges.'

I agree re the refereeing, but he should have blown for some of the shirt pulling early on - that would have nipped it in the bud

I missed that one, thanks Foxy. I'll reconsider my previous thoughts! 🤔

A real mixed bag of comments - both salty & sweet.
Had to smile at the comment about Jebbo burning down an orphanage. He got the reception he deserved.
As for us being dirty, I think some of them must have been looking the other way when their players were dishing it out.
Cheers Roy.

They never deserved a point and were dirtier than us.
That said , the one comment which chimes with my view is that we are less than the sum of our parts.
I think our first 11 contains good players but I don't see a cohesive plan in transition to move us up the pitch.
Hopefully this will improve as currently we have a lot of new players in a brand new shape.

Dud Lee Hendrie write those comments ?

Can't recall them having a decent chance
Well they did miss, and badly, the best non-penalty chance of the whole game in the first half with Cooper completely in no-mans land.

To be fair they looked dangerous going forward before half time, and it does concern me that once again we get split asunder by routine through balls over the centre of defence on the counter attack

Considering the punishment beatings we took from those last season, seeing it still happening is very triggering.

A scrappy game & good gritty win .. we were the better side & I don’t recall Cooper been stretched too far .. thought this had of there’s called it square

‘’A (perhaps needed?) reality check. Not because Sheffield Utd were particularly good, but rather because we had too many of our deficiencies on display and were poor.Rak-Sakyi looked the best player on the pitch and showed why supposedly some PL clubs and also apparently ourselves were after him. But while Sheffield Utd have lots of individual quality all across the pitch I thought they looked less than the sum of their parts. A slicker, more confident side even at Championship level would have put a few passed us playing how we did today. In the end 1-0 was probably a fair reflection of the game considering how bad we were but also how wasteful they were.”

Thanks Roy. Which game did they watch, the whiney twats? It certainly wasn't the one where they were absolutely fucking dire for 90 minutes.
So dire in fact that I'm surprised they didn't have a new manager ready on the bench.

No idea what planet they are on, Watford were absolute dog chocolate. The ref was as useless as you get, should have been another pen before HT. They'll be lucky to finish top half playing like that. Bobbins. More of this utd pls catching teams on an off day as usual. 🤣

Well I enjoyed the game. Thought Watford were quick on the counter attack. Last season they would have ended with a goal or two against us. Can see while they were undefeated, but can see the difference between the Premier league and the championship. Do think some fans are deluded and most certainly need to go to spec savers especially when it comes to observations about the opposition . Talking to some Watford fans in the chippy prior to the game, their comments were they would enjoy the giddy heights it probably would not last.
As said I enjoyed the game and how sweet not watching a game where you were thinking how many goals are we going to concede alla last season.

The vast majority of football supporters just cannot be objective about their own team when they lose can they? Bizarre comments.

1-0 was a very fair scoreline. United were the better side and deserved the win despite probably needing to be a little more decisive and clinical in a couple of moments.

It would be difficult for anyone with sensible opinions to suggest United didn’t deserve a 1-0 win. For a start, the goal came from literally running the ball into their net.

Cheers Panchero!

'The match was a crap watch?'

No words for that comment.

Usual variation between sensible posters who have a double digit IQ, and drunks.

Particularly the one who said it was a poor watch!!!?!?!? Pint of what he/she/they are having.

No one else thought so, including the Sky commentators who were raving about what a good game it was.

Thanks Foxy, that was it. We all know that BDTBL is a wonderful atmosphere when we get it rocking. Personally, I think it’s a bit classless to suggest that the crowd should target an ex-player for abuse - one aspect of football that I really don’t like. They are professional athletes just doing trying to earn the best living they can from the limited time they have available.

I've got to be honest I didn't quite understand the reception he got? Maybe I missed something but I do agree with what was said above. He's a player who left us for a club in our league and it needs to be hostile.

Any set of fans these days seem to think if you put in a challenge and actually make contact with the player you're a "dirty" side. It's laughable yet those fans are the first to complain when a soft pen is given with the usual "way it's a contact sport init?" Towards the end I can't remember, was it Souza? Who tracked back from behind their player when one of them broke in on goal and forced the ball for a corner knocking over their player in the process - cries for a pen rang out from the away end because a player had hit the deck. Getting the ball seems to mean piss all these days.

Then again we could resort to actual dirty tactics like shirt or leg pulling couldn't we? But then we'd be on their level. It's getting boring listening to the "United are a dirty side" comments because we don't mind a challenge. Hamers was probably the dirtiest challenge but deemed a necessary evil, every single team does that.

Thanks Roy.

More than a whiff of S6 style delusion in that batch of comments, they can't have been watching the game as I was.

I thought we clearly deserved the win, we are not the finished article yet but I do see some signs that we will be very good when we are.
