Love the logic. Villa beat Blades and the conclusion is that Villa were rubbish and Blades will finis above Villa. Brilliant 😂

If you are basing what will happen purely on that one game then there's a genuine argument that United will finish above Villa despite the result. Football is much more complex than the result and Villa looked clueless playing against 10 men practically all game.

Unfortunately for us and luckily for you, it's ridiculous to base what will happen over a season based on a single game right at the start. Especially one in such circumstances as this evening. I think Villa can only improve where as we are going to struggle for goals all season

Villa will be in the relegation battle with us this season if they don’t change the manager. Give Wilder Smiths budget and we challenge top six.

Thanks Roygbiv appreciated as always mate :) Some ok comments on there and then there’s the rest, when did they become the established premier league team who ought to be beating teams like a Sheffield United, strange attitude of entitlement from a team that could have gone down last season

All I have to say is John Egan and then Lundstram and Stevens all cost us in someway tonight.

Egan made the same stupid mistake he made against Newcastle.

And Lundstram and Stevens have been awful for a good while now the fact they still keep being picked is ridiculous about time someone else was given a chance.

I agree, ridiculous to base the final outcome of the season on one game and even more ridiculous to come off a loss and interpret that as meaning you will finish above the team that just beat you. Yes, you had 10 men but you have an organised defence and it is very difficult to play against a team that is (understandably) just trying to kill the game. I also agree you need a striker, only 3 teams scored fewer goals that Blades in the PL last season and 2 of them are now playing in the Championship and the other is managed by Steve Bruce. The loss of Henderson is massive too. You have a great manager and he knows how to setup a team but if u can't score and your defending is weakened from last year I fear the worst. I would like to see u stay up but someone needs to get the cheque book out. You have now got guaranteed the 2nd year of PL revenue which is another 100m+ and also you have now guaranteed 3 years of parachute payments (if required). I don't buy into this 'we need to operate within our budget'. Increase the bloody budget! There is much more money available based on revenues and CW should be rewarded with a bigger portion of it. Afterall. I think most people will agree, he is a huge huge part of getting this revenue into Blades.

We can't throw money at it and risk the entire club. We are doing loads off the pitch to improve things and our owner is still in the process of buying out the previous owner. We were in League One for 6 years and it's absolutely killed the club in terms of how much ground we have lost off the pitch to the teams we are now competing against. This was also the case in The Championship where we had one of the lowest budgets and wage bills in the league. The club simply hasn't had chance to catch up with what the team has achieved. We went from being an established League One club to a Premier League club in 3 seasons.

It would be no real surprise if everything caught up with us and we went down. The job Wilder has done with little money and having to work under 2 owners who weren't speaking to each other is ridiculous. Whatever happens the club will be in a far better shape than it was when Wilder first came in. If we can stay up this season and it's a more stable world where our owner has secured all the assets then I think we will push on but right now it would be financially disastrous for us long term if we started radically raising our wage bill and went down

Grealish is their top man and is quality, how he's put down is beyond me?

Aye, because that works, there’s plenty of clubs taken a ride up shit creek and lost the paddles by spaffing millions. You weren’t so far away from it yourselves remember!

Thanks for the extra info. But I just think there is so much money in the PL that risk needs to be taken with a striker. Most teams struggle to identify where their many problems are. You guys know exactly where your problem (singular) is. That is upfront. At 30m striker will cost u about 10m/12m in total a year. Relegation will cost u 100m+ a year. With guaranteed revenue from PL this season followed by 3 years of guaranteed Parachute payments I just think Blades need to be slightly more risk-taking.

Not gonna read their view, wold wind me up even more than I am already! Thought Villa were poor but we made poor errors also, and you can't make them and get a result.

I agree, but we didn't take calculated risks. We put all our eggs in one basket and started spending money on shyte players with a shyte manager when we were in the Championship with no guaranteed revenue, we spent fcuk all when in the PL. And yes it nearly went tits up, we were days away from administration. But u guys have a completely different setup with a quality manager and you need to spend a few quid to retain your PL status imo. Watkins and Brewster (appears to be off to Palace) are both top Championship strikers (no guarantees in the PL) and you couldn't compete to sign them based on the finances. The prices have gone crazy but to stay in the PL a certain level of spend is required unfortunately. You absolutely deserve to be in the PL and the PL is better for having you.

"We do need new players though”...

What!?!? No you don't. You've comfortably got a top 12 squad, even top 10. You need a decent manager.

Then these two aswell...

“We will be better when we get more attack minded players in, simple as that.”

“Shows we still need some quality brought in”

God I hate Villa

Cheers Panchero!

"... I watched them against Wolves, they were shite. They were lucky last season, this season they will be found out. They work hard but they have no class. Not one of their players would get into our team..."

No mate, "lucky" is staying up in the last 10 minutes on the last day of the season, "lucky" is getting a draw when the ball had clearly crossed the line and Sky TV camera's saw it, but the goal was not given.

Finishing 9th at the end of a full season is not "lucky".

Give allowances.
The Brummie is upset because he can see Sheffield United were better than Villa by many miles last season😉
