The game was on at 7am this morning in Toledo. Progressively through the season it has taken me longer and longer to get over these awful performances but, today, I sit back, reflect, and wonder how on earth we could go through a game so passionless, so devoid of skills, so detached from the will to win, and so not able to string one pass together, not make one pass through the channels, not one pass through midfield to an onrunning forward, and not one shot on goal.

To have Billy and Ollie as our front two in a must win game, to have Jags in the back three, to have only two midfielders in Berge and Fleck, both of whom were so far off the level of energy needed to throttle and control midfield, and I have to wonder what the game plan was today, truthfully, what was it?

So, we are lethargic for 30 minutes, energyless for 35 minutes, and when the first goal goes in, I felt NOTHING but the feeling that it was going to happen.

Did we change our tactics, did we push forward, did we take over midfield, did we get closer to the other team, did we try to pass through the channels when Brewster and Mousett came on, NO, we let two more stupid goals in....

For the first time this season, I am numb to a performance as bad as I have seen from a United team for along time.

If it’s any consolation Toledo I had a 5am start here in Colorado.
The commentary summed it up when they said we were a totally passive team and a pale shadow of last season’s offering.
I’m still shocked at how we made Southampton look so good.
Didzy looked like the only skillful player we have.

I thought that the commentators on sky were actually quite complimentary to us considering how dogshit we were. How they gave the mom award to a Southampton defender was mystifying though.

To elaborate: I’ve been watching us since 1988 so I remember 1990/1991 when we’re were dead and buried but stayed up. But, back then, even when we kept getting turned over, we tried. You never came away thinking the team wasn’t up for it. Not up to it, perhaps, but without quality, we did, at least, have belief to fall back on.

It’s totally different now. This team looks gone. These players are as flat as any I saw under Weir or Adkins. We don’t have the belief that we could base something on. There’s nothing. I don’t want Wilder to go but maybe that’s sentiment. The fact is that something needs to happen but I don’t know what.
