How I ended up on there I don't know. I registered on QPR's site and bought a ticket yesterday. The side stands were sold out and there were only a handful of single tickets on the Loftus Road end behind the goal. It said the upper tier was season ticket holders and members only and the system wouldn't allow me to buy one if I wasn't but it did. £41.50. Leg room atrocious. Caught in a sun pocket but worth it to see a Blades win.
QPR pushed us as I thought they would but we were full value for the win. Cooper played well. I thought QPR threatened more in the first half than the second and Cooper pulled off a series of good saves and QPR kept us on the back foot. In the second half they dominated the ball without really hurting us and created little. We defended well. Their pen was maybe a tad fortunate but if you put your hands up in the box you're asking for trouble.
We closed out the game well and BBD should have wrapped up after a good break but his shot cleared the bar. Vini was imperious once again and dominated midfield. We had too much for them and were worth the win. Vini, Anel and Cooper contenders for motm. But inclined to give it Campbell for his dangerous runs and that sweet strike which secured the points. Robbo played well too. I thought he'd conceded the pen but saw later it was Burrows.
QPR fans weren't happy with the ref. I thought he was even with both sides. Reffed it pretty well. Blades fans gave solid backing all through the game and could be heard loud and proud. QPR fans generate noise from both side stands. Quite enjoy visiting Loftus Road and find their fans a decent bunch. Even though I've been loads of times I'm always surprised by how small their ground is. They have a big scoreboard stuck on top of the away end. It's been a happy hunting ground for us in recent years.
The only downside is they've restricted away fans to upper tier only. It's the first time I haven't been able to get a ticket on the away end. Oh and Stanley Bowles ashes were scattered on the pitch by his family before the game. They were introduced to the crowd at halftime. Surprised to hear a northern accent. And then discovered Stan Bowles from Manchester. A proper footballing legend.
