Just perusing through their messageboard. This could easily have described us last season

Too late now mind. The squad is mentally week and ill disciplined and he is responsible for that. Power might sign the players but I understand Williams works with them, trains them and picks the team. So in essence he is the manager and clearly an appalling one at that. Players going out on the piss, clearly shows a lack of respect for the club and manager, the guy has to go, at least at the end of the season. There is no point getting rid of him now.

Some nice comments from their Head Coach Luke Williams...

“Sheffield United are a fantastic football team and they are absolutely a cut above for this level.

“The manager is brilliant and he’s got them very well organised, they are relentless and they’ve got real quality.

“I’ve seen a team with quality over the years in Sheffield and the players didn’t always produce, but they are doing that now and they were excellent.

Glorious. :)

This season has been surreal, good passing football, brilliant to watch, good crowds home and away, management we connect with, our fans in general agreement and now fans and management from other clubs continually praising us, I know it will come to end but in years to come we will all look back on this season as one of our most enjoyable, still enjoying the ride, utb

Perhaps someone should show to Parkinson and Alexander

Usual excellent standard Weirdo.

Their fans must be tearing their hair out, elementary mistakes repeated far too often it seems. As they're in danger of being relegated, worth cherry picking their better players?

There wasn't anyone in their team last night I'd want scrubbing toilets at the Lane. They weren't just shit, they were gutless. That first half their midfield weren't even contesting, the first sign of a challenge and they'd drift slowly away from the ball. If I was a Swindon fan I'd be furious.

Then we shan't entertain the thought of ever considering one of the ne're-do-wells that currently masquerade as footballers at Swindon.....word!

“Can we quit this pointless shitehawking about at the back already!”

They did that two years ago, did the same last season and this season. Just like we did under Adkins. Dont know why some teams do that

It works well for top teams (like Barcelona!), who have skilled defenders that are comfortable on the ball and don't panic when they're closed down. Trying to do it with a bunch of League One defenders is complete madness. I've noticed that it tends to happen when the manager is an ex-Premiership player who thinks that they can mould their side into a version of a top-flight outfit. I wonder whether Tim Sherwood's role at Swindon has anything to do with it? It possibly started with Di Canio.

Think it started when Mark Cooper was the manager

They've been doing it a while, before Sherwood got there at least, so maybe it did start with Di Canio. Can you remember at the lane a few years ago when we basically marked their two full backs whenever the keeper had the ball so they couldn't play it short but they persisted in trying to pass it out anyway, to the point where each goal kick was taking them ages. I think the ref had to stop Murphy running through the box to get to the full back on the other side.

*I think it was the game we won 2-0 with Murphy scoring both.

Agree for the most part, but Freemans goal came from letting our defenders have the ball whilst under pressure & drawing some of their midfield out of position?

Arguably, our defenders are more comfortable on the ball than those of most other teams, so we just about get away with it, but I wouldn't want to see us try it too often next year if we go up. The tactic tends to work when it is employed by the stronger team (hence, Barcelona finding it generally effective). It didn't work in the slightest when David Weir insisted on it for us, and Adkins didn't learn any lessons later on either.

Geordie, nothing in the slightest worked for David Weir mate. Our full-backs were never allowed out of our half and yet still had to be "protected" by our supposed wide men (Flynn for example).

Adkins was a great advert for what the mentally disadvantaged can achieve when they really put their mind to it. Altogether now, stick your arms out to the side, make a V formation, flap your arms up and down and FLYYYYYYYYYYYYYY !!! There - simple! Where's the trophy?
