See how we get on when we play better teams. We are yet to play any of the other top 6 teams. It might help us playing better teams so we can counter them easier….or we could get pumped 😂
There's only 3 teams i'm bothered about this season - Sunderland, Burnley and Leeds.
West Brom and Blackburn won't last the pace

Of the teams we've played..
Watford were 2nd and unbeaten when we played them. If they'd beaten us instead, they'd be 3pts above us now.

If Hull had beaten us instead, they'd be 2pts above us now.

If Norwich had beaten us instead of drawn, they'd be 1pt behind us.

It's ok saying we haven't beaten anybody of note, but the reason the teams are below us at this early stage is because we've beaten them

“We were far and away the better football side on that pitch tonight, we almost deserved a point”

You were far and away the better side who didn't deserve a point never mind a win?
Nope, you're going to have to explain that one to me my friend.
What he means is:
They were the better team playing it back to their goalie, in and around their box and in their own half. A total bore of a team!!

Cheers Panchero!

I remember Swansea coming to the lane during the Leon Britton era where he had an incredibly high pass rate based on 2 yard sideways passes. They at least had some success back then, but were boring to watch.

But watching them last night they were shit, hardly ‘broke the lines’ into the final third and only got some half chances by lumping it into the box at the end

We didn’t have as much possession, fewer passes but we looked to create goal scoring chances more. Ironically the best finish of the night came from a brilliant ball into the box that their fullback slotted it home beautifully rather than let it go to waste.

We were hanging on a bit at the end but really shouldn’t have been, we should’ve been out of sight

Some fans clearly don't see past possession, which Swansea had a lot of yesterday. They had loads more of the ball, but we had double the amount of shots on goal and hit the woodwork twice. We easily could have won by 3 or 4 goals.

Thanks Roy.

Started with a promising pinch of salt but that just faded away, bit like their football really. How the hell can a supposedly better side deserve almost a point, guess that's the Welsh for you.
I think the guy was being sarcastic..

There are some utterly deluded Swans out there 🤣 On another night they lose 4 nil and we never got out of 2nd gear.

It doesn't seem to to matter who manages them, they play exactly the same neat but toothless football that will keep them in mid table every season.

Coops had to make 1 save all night.

Thanks Roygbiv

Very true.

These polarised views don't surprise me and for once both the positive and negative views have validity.

Swansea haven't changed, they knock the ball about like Man City but their attacks are slow and they over pass. So it's quite easy to defend against and this was proven last night. Swansea had plenty of attacks in the 1st half but (apart from 1 chance in the 1st half) never looked like scoring.

We were shocking 1st half, struggled to string 3 passes together but we were also lifeless and low on energy.
It was almost like Ali's rope a dope tactic, where we deliberately let Swansea totally control the 1st half.
It was a though Wilder and his players were deliberately playing for a 0-0 at half time.
It was comical how we were so poor yet found our selves 1 up on the stroke of halftime, incredibly lucky.

The turning points was the 50th minute when the whole stadium stood up and clapped in Jonny's memory. The crowd waking up...must have affected the team because suddenly the team came alive and we had several great chances to score. The only threat from Swansea was they had quite a lot of corners and free kicks but with giants like Souttar, Anel and Moore there was no way they would score.

Overall we deserve to win and we were unlucky because it should have been more than 1-0.

“sheffield missed 3 sitters, should’ve been 3-0”

“They should’ve beat us comfortably”

“They could have played without a goalkeeper for most part.”

sums it up perfectly ,

We were saying the same on the Kop, we all agreed that Swansea looked good
In fact it brought back memories of last season. Swansea were knocking the ball about like a decent Premier league team.
Regards keeping possession with short pass and move play....most of that 1st half they were giving us a lesson.

Then we said hold on.......for all Swanseas impressive football......they aren't creating any chances and don't look like scoring.

Even in the 2nd half when 0-1 down at no point did you think Swansea would score.
Put it this way.....our fans would boo that Spanish style tippy tappy.....sideways...forwards....backwards....sidewards football...it's boring.

“we battered them and not just with aimless passing around the back, sort ourselves out up front and we’ll be more than ok”

So you were no good up front, which just leaves you battering us with aimless passing around the back then doesn't it?
Right. OK.
Our one goal, one bar hit, one post hit, 2 one on one saves v your striker who when through for a tap in passed it out for a goal kick to us? 🤔

Cheers roy, after 10 mins watching last night i said to lad these are the most boring team ever caused no threat at all, the longest pass is about 10 yds . But to them it looks pretty,

They have some neat players, particularly Key, (No2) and Eom, (No10) who looked impressive, however for all their pretty triangles they offered little threat. With a bit more luck we would have won by 4, Campbell and Moore should both have scored when hitting the woodwork and Brookes should have finished one of his two clear one v one's, Brewster should have at least got his strike on target.

Let's have it right though, first half was a dire, boring, nothing 45 minutes with both teams cancelling each other out. Second half we looked better as the game opened up but it still wasn't great! A win is a win though and 3 points in the bag, we need to step it up a level though as we may be punished against better more direct sides.

They're the masters of flattering to deceive. They had the lion's share of midfield play with neat interplay between their wingers, central midfielders, and occasionally their strikes dropping back, which resulting in the sum total of fuck all end product.

Their only dangerous chance came by so accidentally that even their striker who was alone in the box couldn't believe it and put it 5 yards wide from under 12 yards out.

Teams in the Prem can do this midfield interplay, too. The main difference is that they'll have an end product. For now, I'll take teams like Swansea every day. We barely got out of second gear.

I presume you mean this in terms of consistency rather than everyone can beat anyone on their day. In this division, if you put a decent run of 10 games together at any point you'll probably end up in the playoffs (I dont mean by the final game I mean at the point that run is put together).

The winners are the ones who remain most consistent throughout or get off to the best start. This was noticeable with Leicester last season, their first half of the season set them up.
