Spurs were quiet last night but, generally, I think that WHL can be one of the better atmosphere's in England.

Serious question AnotherSpur.
How come Woolwich always show crowds of just over 60k when it's obvious there are plenty of empty seats at the Emirates?
Don't they count season ticket holders who don't turn up in the attendance figures?
I remember there were always stories about us understating crowds about 25 years ago so we wouldn't have to pay as much VAT.

Yep, it's tickets sold. I went to watch them in the League Cup against Wigan a few years back - £10 in - and as it was well below freezing plenty clearly decided to give it a miss. Wish I had too, had to spend a fucking fortune on Bovril to keep warm. The announced crowd of 59k was a good 15k more than actually there.
I always thought The Holte End at Villa was noisy but probably been a while since they have had anything to sing about!Spurs were quiet last night but, generally, I think that WHL can be one of the better atmosphere's in England.
Bramall Lane, Anfield (and dare I say it).... Hillsborough are grounds that stick out as being able to generate unbelievable noise when they're in full voice. Must be a large kop thing.
Oh United used to fiddle crowds to an outrageous extent, but surely nowadays with Elf & Safety etc. they wouldn't get away with it?
.
Who was the other old player on the pitch at half time ? Anderton ,Chivers ,King and ....And we produce 10x the atmosphere your beloved Woolwich produce. Ying and yang.
I bet it's not rocking at many 3rd division grounds in Germany though.I think that's why there are the comments slating the home fans. You expect White Hart Lane to be rocking for a semi-final, it's a cracking old school stadium and the noise would have been great. But it seems to take a really big game for most English fans to get things going, as opposed to Germany for example where they lift the roof no matter who is playing.
.
No, it would seem that a few pig fans have 'infiltrated' the Spurs boards. (Nothing better to do, their interest in both cups ended months ago). Wendy are delusional fuckers, but even these stand out:
“Bramhall Lane a proper stadium? Hillsborough yes…..not Bramhall lane, shot ground and the Blades have a much higher than average ratio of pikey supporters making it a shit place to visit.”
Question Time. How many years since Spurs visited the 'Wembley of the North'? It's changed since the 90's. It's now a rust-covered, broken-down Meccano toy set in the most economically- and intelligence-deprive part of Sheffield.
“Only 2 teams worth mentioning in Sheffield.
Sheffield Wednesday, and Sheffield Wednesday reserves”
And a 'Spurs fan' would know this how? It's so long since the pigs were in the top flight, I doubt if they even know about Wendy.

Like someone else said, wendies haven't got nothing better to do than gloat about the shiteness of their shite ground.Wankers the lot of em.I think if you have a look one of these 'Spurs' joined the forum Jan 15th. Quite a coincidence

On another note,Spurs have one of the best supports in England and just because they hardly raise a song against a league one side doesn't make them have a shite support.Would we raise the roof against the likes of Barnet or Southport? Would we hellers like.Same difference. This arguing over supports is getting tiresome,we both have great support, end of.
You need to have a look at the history.Chelski couldn't get 20k averages as late as the nineties.Arsenal got an average of 24k one year in the nineties. The lowest average Spurs have had in this time is 27k,so don't get me started with the glory bunch such as the chelskis of this world. When you take into account what they've all won in the last 30 years or so,then yes,Spurs have a great support, just like us,as we haven't collected much silverwareWiz . the difference with the "big " so called clubs in London as Spurs , Chelski , Arsenal etc have a lot of floating supporters with seat tickets and corporate tickets. Believe it or not , some people going to watch a game of football class it , in the same vane as going to the theatre.
Even Jose has complained of the lack of atmosphere at Stamford Bridge.
Nothing to do with playing a league 1 side . It was a semi final whoever you are playing. If you cant raise the roof then , well theres not much hope.
If i had the choice of watching Spurs or going to the theatre , i would plump for the latter ,( if i had to pay .) 1. its cheaper , and 2 .you get a good consistent performance every time.

I agree with Another Spur....I have always had a bit of a soft spot for Spurs. Loyal fans...good atmosphere....history...tradition....some dodgy Chairmen...equally bad buys......even worse managerial appointments................little in the way of silverware......a ground in a "lived-in" part of the city....pre and post game "characters" aplenty.....................come to think of it..............this reminds me of another team.........Good luck for the rest of the season AnotherSpur...............obviously that doesn't extend to next week but I am sure you understand...............
We have won one league cup in 26 years. We have one of the highest attendance percentage wise (99.8% ish) capacity wise in the Premier League.
We have 22.5k season ticket holders and 75k members.
My mate has been on the ST waiting list for 7 years and is still only around 5400 in the queue.
Not sure the team deserve the support they get at times.
Can't call us glory hunters thats for sure!
I remember you lot waving a banner at White Hart Lane when we lost 4-0 there in 1990-1991 that read "Beware the year that ends in 1". My dad said United should have a banner that read "Beware the year that starts with 18".
Reciprocated. I like the historically big teams being in the top tier & that includes you boys. After next week, i would love to see you get promotion.

Think it was John Thuram who did the investigation and then got rid of the turnstile operators. Thought it was more than 10 years ago? The last time you could pay cash in turnstiles was around 1999 or2000 or 2001?I think it was more a case of United counting attendances based on the old manually operated turnstyles being dubious.... where in theory the operator could let someone through without it incrementing the attendance figure... and therefore pocket the cash...
There were games against Man City and Barnsley in close proximity one season about 10 years or so ago... there was barely an empty seat in the ground for both games but one attendance figure had it about 2/3rds full while the other was 95% full.... I gather United got suspicious and that sped up the implementing of automated turnstyles and buying your match ticket on the day at the box office only.

Some comments on here baffle me. Semi final or not if we were playing a team from 2 leagues below us at Bramall Lane there'd be little noise and it would be half full. The fans would expect to win and if we didn't score early on it would be quiet.
The opposition would be more up for it as a win is a scalp and a smaller number would out sing the home fans. It's the psychology of football.
You can hardly blame Spurs for not singing from start to finish. I think people forget that it's a big thing for us as a League 1 side to be at this stage of the competition, less so for Spurs who can/will be there again in the coming years.
To an extent it happened all the way through the PL season with teams underwhelmed at playing us whilst every game was a big game to Blades fans.
Less of the "our fans are better than yours" and "intimidating atmosphere" rubbish as this stuff has a very big chance of biting us on the backside if we get a bit of a footballing lesson on Wednesday.
