We should've put that to bed with 4 goals atleast, well chuffed with 3 more points n upto 2nd but, against 9 men it should've been better to be honest if we can play 11 men from a better team off the park.
Onwards we go.

“A moral victory and a great performance”

Eh??

An immoral defeat, more like. That bastard could have put Coutts out for a year. As it is, that challenge might yet put Couttsy back in his shell again just at a time when he was getting superbly aggressive.

Pathetic bleating about the refereeing (however spirited their 2nd half performance was).

I couldn't make the game today, but it does kind of show the delusions of football fans that they think they should/would have won the game if it wasn't for the referee. We had over 60% of the possession, 20 corners and 30 shots at goal today, on top of a missed penalty. The stats certainly don't support their argument. Can anybody on here support their case? Seems a bit weak to me.

Gutted to hear we lost Freeman, Duffy and Coutts to injury today - I think Freeman and Coutts in particular are very difficult to replace with our current options.

Think this needs a follow up view from when they've seen the video and realise it was their utter scum players who got themselves sent off not the honourable Mr Deadman. So, with this being Shrewsbury, some time mid June?

Well I just knew that was coming!

Timewasting from the moment they had second man sent off. Congratulations lads you go home with precisely 0 points. I agree that Deadman is a shocking ref. He failed to give us three more definite pens. Good luck with the rest of the season .

“Let’s explain! Neither decision was a red both belonged to deadman."

The second was red card every day of the week whoever the ref is.

They do seem quite proud of their 'brave' lads, shame for Shrewsbury it's almost certainly their last ever League game at Bramall Lane.

Poor finishing was the only reason we did not score 5 or 6. But we won - and that's what matters.

As for them, I found it incredible they didn't even try to get a 2nd. In added time they just allowed us to pass it around with no pressure.

3-0 and 2-1 wins against them this season. They must be so proud.

Poor misguided fools ,let Deadman mask how shit they really are ,11v 11 we would have slaughtered them ,the keeper was wasting time 3 minutes in. Take the keeper away and they are shit. 2 divisions between us next year.

It's a paradox but had they stayed at 11 or even 10 men, we'd probably had won more convincingly as they'd not have spent the second half in damage limitation mode. We may even have been forced out of second gear.

Totally agree. Playing against 9 just made a mockery of the game as a contest and turned it into a training game. Fair play to them for sticking at it but at 11 v 11 we were pasting them

To be fair I think they were just totally shattered. The energy had gone from them

If Basham's was a red card at Scunny, that foul was worth 2 reds.

Turning point of the season this game.

Every team we play from now on will instantly get at least 2 sent off so they have a better chance.

I was a funny old game, I'd sum up going from the sublime to the ridiculous.

The first half we were excellent, we could have easily been out of sight by half time and some of the football was outstanding. The sendings off didn't seem to help us as much as the loss of the three players had hindered us, and it was just like attack versus defence in the second half. The problem was we couldn't bring on 3 players who could have taken advantage in numbers, but credit to their defence and their keeper who played an absolute blinder.

Towards the end in a game where we could have been boosting our goal difference I was urging the lads just to play it safe, pass it along the back and take no risks, because the Shrews seemed more than happy for it to end at 2-1 and in the end it was another win and our great run roles on.

Not sure how they can class that as a 'great performance'. It was one way traffic 99% of the game. Ultimately poor finishing and us dropping down a few gears kept the scoreline respectable for them. If that's what they do see as a good 'performance' then no wonder they are going down.

'Sheffield can't take much from that. A team they hammered only a month ago just basically humiliated them on their own patch with nine men and dead man up to his old tricks again. I'm surprised they didn't have Wigglesworth running the line.
On the plus side I can't see us not stopping up after that. If ever there was a glory in a defeat that was it and if we can outplay promotional certainties with nine men then surely we can optimistic on survival'

State of that.

How posh are you Ben ???
Don't think I have ever seen us barter anyone !! Snob ! Didn't think we had a prawn sandwich brigade. !!
As ever UTB!!

The match stats tell the true story for me.

They nicked one from their only real chance of the game, and with a great finish I should add, but it was one way traffic and even though our finishing let us down a little and has left some frustrated that was a routine win.

Good game, Shrewsbury, for not daring to put a player in our half in injury time when we're passing it around to see the game out. It's really impressive the way you parked nine men in the box and watched the Blades that hadn't been kicked off the park show you some football. Tactical masterclass that and God knows how we're second and you're not...And that's my yearly sarcasm quota met with a month and a half to spare.

I think the first may have been for the players reaction and swearing at the referee, which is now a sending off offence, not for the foul.

I think if it remained 11 v 11 we'd have totally bartered em
Exactly what I thought, especially if we'd kept our starting 11 fit. We were playing well and looking like we could be scoring plenty before the first sending off and I think if we'd had Duffy, Coutts and Freeman playing against 11 players and made tactical subs as opposed to forced ones we'd have scored more and won easier.
