Had a quick peek on their forum and was happy with what I saw !

After that today I think we can forget about automatic promotion. It looks like most of the players had never played together before. Although their goalie made a couple of decent saves at the end it was difficult to see how we would score. GA seems to have lost the plot and doesn’t know his best team. We clearly started with an ineffective forward line.

Out of the top two by March.

You cannot blame the strikers, the service was terrible, wayward shooting by both wingers, and corners and free kicks that were absolutely shocking.somebody said who could you pick as man of the match, and nobody was worthy of that

We can still do it automatically. But we need to get back to the simple things we were doing so well. Familiar traits started to show in some again and that has to stop.

Supporters turn up and pay good money they do not expect to see players turn their back on the ball and show limited interest when the opposition have a free kick, or at a quick free kick not even be looking !!

Madden,Davies and Toney did OK when they came on,we just seem to have lost the desire to steamroll teams nowadays, and look like a team in a relegation scrap rather than a promotion drive.

At 1 o.clock I said to my mate in the pub “I reckon I’ll go down to Glanford park for a change”, I went to the toilet and when I got back he’d got me another pint in so the decision was made, I’ll stay in the pub for another few and go home and watch the Rugby.
Best decision I’ve made in years!

What a favour your mate did you – you stayed warm, was entertained and saved £20 to buy more beer.

Unlike me who was at GP- frozen stiff, bored rigid and charged £22 only to hear the managers ridiculous excuses when he was interviewed on Hullberside.

£22 for that crap made Jimmy Carr look excellent value at £27 for over two hours entertaining comedy.

Second in the table after two thirds of the season, I would certainly have settled for that at the start of the season. If we beat Billy’s Blades, today will be a distant memory…

If we play like today next week we will get hammered.

You don’t get automatic promotion by chopping and changing the team every week.for god sake play your strongest team and adopt an attacking mindset.also try and attack down the right wing for a change.within a week we have gone from two points clear with a game in hand to today’s farce of five points behind Sheffield Utd and the rest catching us.we have handed the title to Sheffield Utd on a plate.

Their slip ups are playing into our hands.

Although as always we just need to focus on winning our next match.

I know what you're saying, but in fairness, the manner of our wins plays into our hands...

We just need to keep plugging away, at 80 odd mins Foxy / Linz posted that we were knocking on the door, that desire to turn a respectable 0-0 away into a win is far more important than what anyone else does.

Scunt fans would've been looking at their 0-1 and our 0-0 and thinking it wasn't too bad. Game in hand, 3pts behind and 2 goals better GD... Fulltime thats extended to 5pts and 1 goal less on the GD.

Last weeks 4-0 was a big one, particularly for GD, but the late win yesterday was further proof that for once, we're not the side with the games in hands and chasing the top 1-2 sides, we're the side that everyone else needs to slip up for them to realise their dreams

Tough Tuesday night in Bristol, then Saturday will be the big game

As Kamara would say, it's 'quite remarkable' that over 50% of our goals have come from 60 mins. on. We've still not scored or conceded in first-half added time. Wilder out.

Love your dedication to a bar chart! Was chatting with a mate on whatsapp yesterday during the game, he's a Bradford City fan. Whilst their scoreline was swinging one way or the other, we were slowly turning the screw during the game. Even last week's game, Edwards kept talking about how we should be beating sides more comfortably and that Fleck should be getting goals... we slowly and steadily added goals and ran out 4-0 winners. It seems that the worst thing a side can do is to let us control the tempo.

Which is exactly how Fleetwood beat us so easily. Blast you've told everyone how to beat us, I hope we have a plan C now.
Chesterfield tried it at their place and for 20 mins they were brilliant, we were awful and hated it. Problem for the opposition is sustaining it for 90 mins. We're an extremely fit side from what i've seen, so many know how to do it, the difference is being able to execute the plan.

They've got vertigo. Like we had. It's much easier to chase than to lead. Once you're top of the league you need a strong mentality to stay there. This is the business end of the season, when the real pressure starts. It won't be about who plays the prettiest football but who is capable of grinding out wins at all costs.
CW and AK were in this position last year, they know what's needed from now to the end of the season. That's why they signed three experienced, mature players who they can rely on to cope with the pressure. As demonstrated yesterday

Should we somehow win the league this season, what an achievement that would be for Wilder. Champions 2 seasons in a row in 2 leagues with 2 different teams.

When he does it again next year it will be even better!

To be honest, if any Scunny / Bolton fan had looked at our Forum after our sticky patch, they would have been laughing their bollocks off at us also.

Its a normal reaction ( as we all know too well ) to question everything and every player when a bad run happens.

Football's a great game.

No disrespect intended, but Scunny (like Rotherham) are still punching way above their weight - players must feel dispirited when just 4k turn up. I know its not a big town but surely they can muster more than that?
Going to be a good game next Saturday whatever

Scunny have been struggling for a while, and Alexander has done a good job.

He plays a simple method of play, and insists on very hard work. Very much an old school thinker in training methods and discipline.

However, his undoing could be as a result of dealing with injury and missing players as the season goes on. And it's not because he lacks any real strength in depth, he has a good squad of players. But it was the decision to scrap an U/23 squad this season. He did that because they were struggling when he arrived to put a team out, and were relying on 15 year olds to make up the squad! So he decided not to bother, and to arrange fixtures as friendlies when needed. That hasn't really worked.

So he has a squad where half of them are not playing any kind of competitive fixtures, the young pros have ended up going on loan to low level non league sides and so when he has to fall back on those players they aren't match sharp.
For me, that is the sole cause of their slump. They miss their first choice full backs greatly who had the fitness to run overlaps etc. They will struggle to get that fitness back now. And those shots from distance that were going in before, are just missing or being saved now. It wasn't going to last.

But they will still be difficult to break down, and very tough to beat.

Random fact: although Wilder is only four years older than Alexander, he's been managing for ten years longer. You learn a lot in ten years.

Or....Alexander was gaining playing experience until he was over 40....

As he was playing he was coaching.
And learning under different managers lower down. Not saying it's the same, just that it is all experience.

I recall a Northampton fan saying "Sheffield United just grind you down until the inevitable happens and someone switches off". That graph backs up this theory up.

I wouldn't write Scunny off yet though. They are a good side and the Shrews keeper pulled off a great save yesterday which would have given them a point. Paddy Madden came back from injury yesterday too which is a boost for them

It's very difficult for any team at this level to stop us controlling the tempo. It's all very well having the plan to do so, but they'd have to win the midfield battle first and against a class Mark Duffy, a snarling bull dog in John Fleck and a formidle nigh on in possible to disposses, Paul Coutts, they have their work cut out

I think this is the biggest compliment, that they can put a man on Fleck, but we'd just go down the wings with Freeman or through Duffy...

They can put a man on Fleck and it will make no difference to his game. He will still get on the ball, still pass it on quickly and still tackle.
His touch is so good it makes no difference if they put a man on him....or Coutts for that matter.

Our Midfield is so flexible and has so much quality teams would be foolish to try and nullify us using that tactic. Opponents would be better spent trying to score....going 3 up top and trying to pressure us in our half to hit balls forward long....then at least they can try and win the first ball and if not that the second ball.
Any side who just surrenders our half and sits deep to defend will now struggle with our man Hanson up front. Prior to that it was a good tactic, now it is just suicide.

Frankly....Wilder has over two transfer windows built a superb squad that is capable of switching tactics swiftly and easily, and mixing up styles of play.
Man has worked wonders.

It always helps to be able to mix it up, and Hanson seems to be allowing that so far, but primarily when teams try to interrupt your game you have to step it up and move the ball around even better. If you could just stick a boot in and stop top clubs from playing their football, top clubs wouldn't continue to dominate possession and win matches. Our midfield can pass a ball better than League One teams can harass them.

Good point, though Shrewsbury are on one of the best runs in our division - 4 wins and 2 draws out of their last 6 games. Teams hit form (Bristol Rovers being one) and others drop out. As long as we keep knocking 'em down, we'll be fine.

belief
keep saying i , but in football its massive
their fans will assemble at bramall lane shitting their pants

their belief is suffering a crisis

we need to feel we can win and push our lads onwards and upwards
not sat like dumb jellies wobbling with fear

A bit of a shame there is a full programme in midweek it's a chance for them to get back on track and on confidence.
