The thing about strikers is they need service. They also may do nothing for most of the game but when the chance comes they bury it or the good ones do. Look at Haaland and Salah. Quite often they disappear for long spells. But when the chances arise they make the difference between winning the game and not winning. It's way too early to be writing off Cannon. That goes for our own critics.

Cant argue with the fact they should have won, and easily. The difference, well two quality players with excellent finishes. We were woeful as Wilder said. Hats off to Pompey fans, a long journey on a dank Saturday in February, they came in numbers and sang loud and proud and could have, should have won.

It’s quite rare I feel sorry for opposition fans, but Pompey probably the best set of fans that have been to the lane this season. Got done with a smash and grab and not one comment is negative about us.

I just can’t help but thinking it could be a case of ‘it’s the Hope that kills’ as I don’t expect they’ll face such a clueless team on the road again this season. Considering their relegation rivals tonked us 3-0, ‘the best away performance all season’, probably wasn’t !

Normally I would bemoan the complete lack of salt, but on this occasion I actually feel for them. They came and made a lot of noise, behaved with dignity for Harvey & could and should have won the game, All without slagging us at all, class.

Respect to them. Worked hard, played well but took nothing from the game. A great effort from their supporters who made the long journey in large numbers too. They deserve to stay up so that they can build on their achievements to date.
