Why am I not surprised...

“Just confirmed with Sheff Utd ticket office. South Yorkshire Police told them they’re not allowed to sell tickets to away fans on the day. Home fans can pay on the day. So it seems the police would prefer to have away fans mixed in with the home fans rather than safe and happy in our own section. Ridiculous. You would have though Sheffield police would have learnt a few things from Hillsborough – or maybe this is what they learnt...”

cheers Roygbiv . I thought they were one of the better teams to visit the lane this season but they aren't a happy bunch. Teams that don't score go down, see SUFC 2010/2011

“I despise Sheffield United more than any team in the league – I wouldnt sit amongst them whilst they break into that bastard chip butty song.”

What a cunt LOL - remember ripping them a new one on that plastic pitch they were supposed to be unbeatable on.

I don't understand his gripe

We keep home gate receipts, as do they and all FL clubs

What's his point?

I'm assuming the gripe is that in not being able to pay on the day in the away end the away fans are forced to add their coffers into the home ends. I think the suggestion is this isn't a coincidental inconvenience.

Or worse, send your tinpot club even closer to the relegation that a club of your stature deserves.

So they add their coffers into the home ends. The home club keep all gate receipts from home and away fans LB. I still don't get his gripe

Apologies for the confusion

I still don't get it. United keep the revenue from both home and away fans, as do all clubs.

Seriously, why does he despise Sheffield United so much?

I cannot think of one possible reason why Oldham Athletic would even come onto my radar, never mind registering any sort of interest in them?

“A bit strange, not getting cash in hand on the turnstiles, from the supporters of a club, that apparently, doesn’t hand over the ticket money for the away tickets sold. Priceless”

WTF is that about?
Exactly my thought.., when we take thousands n thousands to their grounds do they give united money

Because they've been in the same division for coming up to 20 years. Having a club like ours grace them with our presence gets the little Lancashire bumpkins excited, bless 'em.

I don't get his point either, it's all our revenue. Even in the FA Cup, where receipts are shared, he wouldn't have a case, total revenue for home and away fans is added up and split 50/50.

Blade58, let me help you. The person from Oldham who wrote this is a total fuckwit

Hope that helps, and enjoy the rest of your Christmas break :)

Yes. Frankly I hadn't actually thought about it much before, but I'd imagine the gripe stems from that misunderstanding. Probably should have planned ahead!

My attempt at trying to make sense of it....

There is normally a window open at the away turnstiles to allow away fans to patg.

I can only assume that , given the crowd today, SUFC withdrew this facility at some stage so as not to run the risk of some of ours going in there rather than queuing up at the ticket office.

If correct, I have sympathy with any Oldham fan thusly inconvenienced.

I apologise in advance for not calling anyone a cunt in this post.

What he was saying is that when we sent them away tickets to sell on our behalf for their fans, they don't hand over the money from the ticket sales as they should do.

(Allegedly)

Raul

That would indeed be a reasonable complaint. However, that isn't the complaint expressed by our "friend" from Oldham and I therefore stick to my original suggestion that this chap is a "fuckwit", who believes that Sheffield United are unfairly withholding hard earned revenue from his club.

Your inability to call out anyone as a "see you next Tuesday" is just another disappointing element of the whole post. You should be ashamed :(
