What's that comment about Baxter kneeing it back to the keeper and the ref not giving it as a back pass? A knee back to the keeper isn't a back pass.

Totally agree about the Baxter comments though, totally wasted in midfield. His best football under Clough was as part of a forward 3.

"How Baxter’s knee back isn’t a pass back, I will never know."

Maybe they should read the rules?

There were plenty amongst us in the Blades end who thought it was a back-pass too.

Then again many people still shout "6 seconds ref!" and claim for non-existent offsides.

I understand people get uptight about apparent offsides given or not given, although I do scratch my head at the 100% certainty some sat on the Kop around me have. But the number of people who don't actually know the rule is very surprising, screaming at the lino for being rubbish and late when he has simply waited for the player to interfere.

Loads of fans are not aware of this. It happened at the lane a couple of seasons back with our fans ready to kill the ref and recently it happened at Hillsborough with virtually the whole crowd chanting "you don't know what you're doing" to the ref as reported by my mate.

There is another sub rule about manafactured back passes though isnt there ?

I.e using your knee ,head ,chest in a kind of contrived manner

Yup, to prevent you flicking it up and heading it back, or some such unspeakable chicanery.

If he'd have flicked it up with his foot and then used his knee or bent down to knee it or something, it would have (at the ref's discretion) been an indirect free kick for unsporting behaviour and a yellow card.

As it happened, a simple, clear knee back to the keeper, it was no problem.

Been copying owlstalk?

Hate them.

Sorry about that :(
(I've given up on me knowing what constitutes offside or even listening to the amendments since the alleged 'daylight' and giving the attacker the benefit of the doubt period. . . Have they done away with six seconds too? I just thought everyone was taking the piss)

“ I had a lot of respect for him before today. He was a disgrace today the way he helped get Burn sent off. Drugged up and fat he is a disgrace to this division and football.”

Easily the funniest comment on there.
