“It wasn’t Sheffield playing badly, it was just our lads playing fantastic football and exerting total control"

I am calling bollocks on that one, well the first part anyway. It's quite easy to control a game when nobody from the opposition puts in a decent tackle or can seemingly pass to a team mate more than twice in a 10 minute period.

Fair enough. They are very very good. As much as they enjoyed a fairly comfortable win they’ll be glad we’re out of the way now.

Cheers Roy.
No arguments here with those comments. I know how my suit felt the day after my wedding. 🤯

I got laughed at on a different thread for saying that was probably the easiest game Liverpool have had all season.

There's a couple of comments in there that confirmed it.

The disappointing thing is that our team did not do themselves justice in defeat. Any decent fan can live with that once in a while.

Fortunately, it's a rare thing for us to be disappointed.

Yet Klopp thought his team put in an exceptional performance.

I think the comment that we didn't play particularly badly, it was more about how well Liverpool played has it spot on.

They were better than us. In simple terms, we looked bad because they were very, very good and just did not allow us to play our game.

We were always in the game against Manchester City, but were never really given a sniff by Liverpool. Deserved champions in three months time unless we enter some sort of alternative universe.

Without claiming the Mandy Rice-Davies Effect with regards to what Klopp said, Wilder also said "disappointed in our performance tonight.... we were off the pace"

So I'm consoling myself knowing that at least I'm in good company with those thoughts.

Don’t think anyone disagrees, doesn’t necessarily mean Liverpool weren’t good either.

Sean, I never said they weren't. I'm just more interested in the quality of our performance than Liverpool's. For us to get anything there they had to be off their game and we needed luck on our side as well - luck went out of the window after 2 minutes. However, had we played well in defeat, like we did on Sunday....

In virtually every game this season the opposition team say they've played badly against us, and for the exact same reason that was our worst performance of the season, they are European and world champions for a reason, and that reason is that they are freaking good.

Fuck off you patronising cunts. That was the definition of being with a bird who has loved you forever, you’ve never been able to buy the right presents for each other then some bloke comes along and splashes his cash, buys her what she wants, gives her a right good rogering with his 3 wood and then tries to give her back, politely!

Then there's this one, from the Guardian 😂

Sheffield Utd are a glorified Bolton. When the going gets tough they resort to shirt pulling, grabbing, hand balls, and general fuckery. A good Championship side, but a bunch of bus parkers in the EPL.

Nice jobby Roy.
Decent comments.
Got to admit Liverpool looked pretty formidable tonight.
There’s no obvious weakness anywhere.

Roy on most occasions I would like to thank you for your efforts but unfortunately tonight I’m not going to. In fact I’m not going to read what them smug bastards of got to say.
Feeling very depressed

Can't disagree with too many comments of the Liverpool fans, these in particular

"Training Session/ Friendly game" - certainly felt like it at times, i was urging us to press more, but we never even got close to their midfield whenever they decided to step from 1st to 2nd gear

"Professional performance against a team scared to play us" - Sums it up for me. We looked like we had a fear from almost the first attack and goal. We did grow into the first half, but second half i don't think we really came out until really late.

Its no shame to say that we were soundly beaten by a top, top side. We haven't played a side that good in all the time we've had Wilder so it is also a little hard to swallow, but we also did have an offday. The two don't have to be exclusive and perhaps part of the reason we had an offday was because they were also that good. Technically, mentally, fitness wise, they bullied us in midfield and it allowed them to have long spells in possession (almost all the game).

Its some consolation that Wilder and this team are now getting the respect they deserve.... long may it continue... And it will, i'm sure of it
