Some interesting comments there, particularly about the strikers. Whilst I don't want to be too critical of our forward line, we have 2 players who are still coming back to full match fitness and another who can't buy a goal. It is therefore quite apparent that if Billy goes off colour we could start to struggle to score. Hopefully the midfield and defence will keep chipping in and I do expect Billy and Clarke to get more goals but I wouldn't be surprised if Chris looks for another striker in January.
Anyone in mind? :)

I really can't see sharp and Clarke forming any sort of meaningful partnership to be honest, I think the only way we can use them both is if Clarke comes on for Sharp later in the game or we have wingers whipping balls in to Clarke and Billy is sat watching from the dug out.
I really think Evans would be a better match up with sharp in all honesty, don't think Clarke looks hungry or fits in to the team.
I listened to the whole match on RS. Keith Edwards made the point that Clarke did not challenge their midfield on high balls coming out of our end.

It's a frustrating read as it confirms that we pretty much threw away what should have been a comfortable win but at the same time to go there and totally dominate shows how far we have come. We still lack things at both ends of the pitch. I never fancy us to keep a clean sheet and we don't convert enough chances with the great positions we get in. We can certainly improve but we have come a long way in a short time. Who's to say Big Kev won't give Wilder the funds to put the final pieces of the jigsaw together in January

Exactly my thought Roy, I'm quite sure Chris will be well aware though. Thanks for the great "view from". ;)

The Done myth just rumbles on, doesn't it. We love a trier who runs around a lot but can't play football in S2, don't we?

Clarke and Sharp have barely played together yet the experts have decided it doesn't work. It will if it's given as long as Runaround is to score a fucking goal. Both are good footballers. They'll hit it off sooner rather than later. If not, January is looming. One thing's for sure, non-footballer Done is not the answer, unless it's a ridiculous question, which is not uncommon in a crazy world where Diplodocus Dave is rated more highly than the great John Harris.

Agreed JD. Although it has to be said with all due respect that based on earlier posts, there's a few feckers on here who are unlikely to get anywhere near to balaclava and overalls, let alone cap and gown..

He's an absolute quality player and plays with real intelligence

'Best team we've played all season' seems to be in there pretty much every week. Shows how far we've come in a relatively short space of time.

Gutted to concede at the death, but the overall quality of our play seems to be there, and we know we can be clinical as we showed against Chesterfield, Port Vale and others.
It's just a matter of consistency of finishing.

Slight sour taste at the end but to me there can be absolutely no doubt that we will get there, that's how much faith I have in Wilder
Shows how far we've come in a short space of time onwards and upwards. Thanks Roy

Yeah yeah yeah, we get the fact you don't like Done.
Let's hope Sharp and Clarke do hit it off but it guarantees nothing just because they are "both good footballers"
And your expert view is based on this?

Calling him runaround doesn't help your obsession very much , running around is pretty important to a footballer. the big different between the two for me is Done is pro active where Leon is reactive which is why he is second to a lot of balls and gives so many fouls away. he may have scored more goals individually in his career then Matt but have his team mates ? I think the other players are more in tuned to done especially sharp and lafferty .

It's based on the Rain Man-esque use of shit clichés borne out of bitter vendettas mostly.
Typical bully mentality, if you put him in his place he soon scuttles back under his rock.

There's little doubt Done needs a goal right now but too many judge him on goal output alone and choose to ignore all other aspects of his play. Does he just "runaround"? Does this have any benefits for the team? Of course it does but it doesn't involve him putting the ball in the net so doesn't count for some. Not saying he's our long term answer but some on here really need to take there blinkers off

Maybe The Great Mr Bassett is rated more highly than The Great Mr Harris is because more people on here saw Bassett's side play. Just a thought.

Not entirely sure yet mate and not certain at this stage that Evans is the answer. I suspect there are a number of younger players out there who Wilder is considering, especially on loan. Not saying Evans wouldn't be good but I don't think he has played enough football yet this season to be convincing.

I suppose we will find out in January.

I think Clarke/Done offer things but still believe we need some pace up top. We have to be so precise to score and sometimes the ball over the top turning the defence is a real asset. Shame most of funds will have to go in replacing EEL

Why where's EEL going?

He doesn't gel well with Billy in my opinion

Pinchy, what 'system' do you think the great John Harris played?

I think it stems back to the bust up they had, you wouldn't normally get a reaction like that from Billy unless something had happened and I think Clarke must've thought he could nick Billys place when he came??
We need to stop messing and splash a lump on a partner for Sharp come JTW, it's the only way I can see us finishing top 2.

For the last few games of the 1970-71 season it was like this

Looks a bit lopsided

“Sheffield Utd best team we have played all season, and I have to say that their fans were a credit.”

At least one Charlton fan was impressed with the Blades team and support, how was the atmosphere in the away end? I like the Valley, it's a good ground to visit, proper football stadium.

It was absolutely brilliant mate and our support deserves every bit of credit it gets. It was probably worthy of a thread on it's own, we were class as fans and deserved a win, unfortunately that's not how it works.

Hockey was never that far away from Currie- a five yard pass away at most.
