"Sheffield United were far from bad, but I did think they perhaps lacked a bit of creativity. They seemed to be very direct, and can see us facing more cultured and dangerous sides."

"Good result against a good team"

"Ref could easily have been conned by Sheffield diving"

"(On deadbats review) A good read spoilt by absolute crap about the officials, methinks one needs to extricate one's head from one's arse and re-watch the game, they were as good as it get's at this level and to spot 2 blatant dives is first class IMO."

"blatant cheating by the Sheffield players, not something you expect from a Clough team. "

"Very good game from us. Last 25min in the first half a bit not so good. Second we were great I think."

"I thought both teams looked promotion candidates.. a very enjoyable match for all except the partisan in the last 5 minutes. Probably been mentioned more than once but first time we have won at Brammall Lane since 1957, thats 57 years ago. I believe i am correct."

"we looked far fitter than united today."

"'ave that Blades"

"I think we controlled the 2nd half."

"First thirty minutes of second half as good as I have seen us play for many a day and looked the home side. Sat back in the last ten, and maybe lucky on a couple of occasions, but thought we looked the best side overall. "

"we could be scarily good going forwards when we're on song"

"Great game and fantastic result for us!"

"Was very good for a L1 game. Sheff U unlucky to lose"

"I think on today's showing, pre-season predictions for both of these sides are probably justified. Great advert for L1 football."

"Obviously very happy with the win but it was a bit harsh on the Blades. I was impressed with Alcock at the back for them and Higdon, once fit, is going to be a handful for anyone."

"First half Sheff Utd were the better side but 2nd half they offered little and we could have added to our lead with better finishing.
Overall we deserved the win I think."

"I said it's good to get Sheff Utd away done early on, it was a good level of football being played by both sides. "

" we were fucking shit but luckily sheff utd were even worse , neither of us will finish top two "

Strange how the ref ignored two blatant dives by Ayling and then started waving yellows about for diving willy-nilly

The dive by Davies was ridiculous though. It deserved a booking and hopefully Clough will come down on him (and Murphy) hard. Davies was in a great position and wasted a good chance.

Any other referees watching that game will see that and probably bear it in mind when officiating us. We don't need that sort of reputation.

Cheers Roy, pretty spot on most of the comments from Briz...

Direct? Aye, maybe, but not at their f*&king goal.

Why can't people ever spell Bramall Lane? It's not that bloody hard is it????

We may be shit, but one way or another, we're going to Wemmbley!

They certainly looked fitter than us and didn't look as knackered. Played better than us and deserved the win. With Higdon up front I hope that it doesn't mean we're returning to pumping hopeful balls into the box again. Midway through the first half we mixed it up with Scoogs, Murphy and Flynn all looking creative and Harris getting forward. But early attacks and most attacks in the second half we were looking to pump balls into the box as the first option

The fitness thing concerned me. We were told Clougg's pre seasons are some of the toughest around (2 a day sessions) and we would be one of; if not the fittest sides around. Today Bristol were far fitter and whilst many of our players seemed knackered around 60-65 mins; they got stronger as the game went on.

I expected a bit of adrenaline to kick in when we started to play in front of the Kop. But the crowd were soporific in the sunshine and the players did little to change that.

I can forgive Higdon for fading, but it was our midfield which lost its vim. Scougall vanished, Basham never got into it, and only Reed was still running late on.

Davies's was a dive and I hope NC gives him a bollocking for wasting a good opportunity, but Murphy's wasn't. The ref also missed the elbow from their player Little and he should have walked for that, or the dive he took in the second half which the referee "missed", presumably so he didn't have to send him off.

If Murphy's wasn't a dive then that's fair enough. I was at the match so didn't have the benefit of a replay and I always forego the Football League Show when we haven't won.

Their right back could have been a half decent player, quick and strong, if he wasn't such a dirty get. He could have had about three or four bookings and a straight red.
