“I thought we played quite well against a good, organised side and another bloody HOMER ref” What match was he watching ? as the ref gave them all the free kicks which they conned him into giving . One of poorer refs we have had for a while

My way of making sense of oppo fans views is to disregard the highest and lowest 'scores', and what is in-between is usually fairly reasonable. The Bournemouth fans fit that criteria to be honest. For half an hour they were excellent and bossed us completely. You can't fault what they have achieved, when you consider that before the last few years of success, they were not very different to Southend. Credit to them, and Eddie Howe, but I suspect their time in the premier league may be over, shortly.

Not sure what’s ‘so refreshing’ about Sheff U. Perhaps it’s because pundits are seeing something different (bar Burnley) . They simply don’t piss about. They just get the ball into the box quickly”

.....................really? I think we take forever most of the time...........very insightful 😆

They were shocking weren't they. I was genuinely surprised. Perhaps their support is a press generated myth
it was actually so cringeworthy. how they didnt chant or sing and then when they finally scored a goal, which may as well have been an OG... they went mental with flares and mustered a song or two before hastily piping down again... plastic fans at their worst

Respect to those southern namby pamby tosspots with their diving wuss players and well manicured (puff) manager ,coming all the way up to the grim north in awful weather to get beat by a dirty big pub team. Unlucky and fuck off.
You wont have to come again.

If I was a Bournemouth fan, apart from supporting what is possibly England's most beige club, I'd also be fuming after that BT commentary.

This should probably be filed under unpopular opinions but we get too much love from gobshite commentators and pundits who it's difficult to understand what the producer thought they could add to the game, such as Owen Hargreaves today.

They seem to have a storyline they're going to run with, no matter what, and try to fit everything that happens into it. Therefore anything we do is marvelous, even during times (and there were long times today) when things are clearly not. I find it patronising to be honest. The first 20 or so minutes it was all Bournemouth and they were still making it all about us - it was embarrassing.

So I'll forgive the miserable twat who complained about that.

Spot on. Howe, Hodgson, Dyche, Moyes, Dean Smith etc. get away with it for so long and then their true 'qualities' come out. Even if next season is a struggle, CW/AK would never resort to shithousery. The reason we're attracting so many compliments is because we don't go in for timewasting and trying to con refs. We're a breath of fresh air, unlike these managers who've spent fortunes and run out of ideas.

Get back to the Championship where you really belong.

Watching the game today and becoming more and more frustrated by their play acting I thought the we are too honest to be actually competing in this league.

What I get from that is that we are a skillful side but yet are bang average, we were the better side but are not all that, we are a very dirty side but they roll about without any contact, and we deserved to win but yet the fair result was a draw.
They say that football is about opinions, they also say that opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one

Thank you Roy.
Indecision, regarding their present position, at what they want seemed to me very prevalent in their quotes. If the club as a whole are the same they will get relegated.
Never been a fan of Howe, seemed to me he built, with the chairman, the club we know today. Kudos for that but to walk out then return 'cause he couldn't 'hack' it at Burnley, indecision again. Wonder if his indecisions have taken him in a complete circle, to find himself back where he started?

“Didnt take our chances early and Sheff Utd slowly wore us down.”

“I’ve seen us play better, I’ve seen us play a lot worse. It’s one of those games where a team challenging for Europe narrowly beat a team in a relegation battle.”

“If the opposition work twice as hard as you there is a good chance they will win.”

“where did that 3mins of added time in the 1st half come from?”

“Our rolling around counted for most of it”

cant argue with any of that. on the other hand

"the ref was shite and let a lot go that would of normally been fouls". week after week I'm bemused by free kicks given for what looks like "aggressive breathing". It normally goes both ways but this lot chucked themselves about and it took the ref 60 minutes to work it out

Remember the view from at the start of the season where they were arrogant and pointed out the team they played on the opening day were relagated a few seasons running. Well it might be true but it ain't us going down.

We didn't play our nicest football agaisnt them so I'm not going to give out on that but Bournemouth certainly aren't the team we should look up to for nice football.
Agreed, they play areally basic pattern. they have a lot of good players but their is no tactical innovation. Howe would be a disaster for England

Cheers Panchero!

".... I saw nothing to convince me that they should be fifth in the table (except their 39 points, I guess)..."

Yeah, those pesky points from all those other results since last summer, eh? .........

It’ll be another team next year mate. Last season they had the hots for Wolves as the not the normal top six standard fodder. This year they barely get a mention

It always helps when you have a billionaire Russian pumping money in I don't give Howe that much credit, he was a failure at Burnley.

This. I watched on BT Sport and it was ridiculously one sided. If we’d been on the other side of a commentary like that we’d be going crazy. That said, MOTD was also all about us and how brilliant we were. I thought we were really poor for 30 mins and got the job done in tough conditions but no way was that a great example of how well we can play.

Bournemouth. Fucking Bournemouth.

Serves a purpose. But its best avoided.

Yesterday showed why Howe has never been a contender for a good job.

We equalised because Bournemouth were playing for a free kick to kill the pressure instead of dealing with the ball.

Shithousing got what it deserves.

Fair play to them for recognising the play acting and not defending it.

That was near their first team and that is a good team. Look at their early season record before injuries crept in. They are now a regular Prem team in their 5th season and have spent nearly £130 million in the last 2 seasons. We have spent nothing like that and are novices in this league. We will only get stronger season by season.

Bt sport also stated that 6th was our highest ever finish in the top flight. A quick check of Wikipedia would have shown this to be bollocks. This fact was also included in the guardian match report, so they obviously didn't send a reporter to the match and just watched it on the box.
