Jute isn't half bad, better then the other commercial offerings, glad it isn't Neck Oil etc al.

Might be the living in Manchester City Centre in me but £6.30 at a stadium for Jute isn't that bad either (speaking in 2024 terms obviously)

Neck Oil is £6.20 a pint in my local now.

Frightening.

£6.30 is a bargain, I'd have a couple if I were you.

Last season, v Chelsea at home, I was with a load of Chelsea mates, so I had to find a "covers all bases" pub. I was charged £7 for a pint of Neck Oil in The Roebuck on Charles Street.

I do feel a bit of a fraud reporting on these beers in grounds across the country. Since I drastically cut down my drinking, it's unlikely I'll actually have one in a ground.

There was Neck Oil in the ground at PNE for eg.

I get the sometime criticism of Beavertown and Neck Oil. But I remind myself that there was a time we could never even dream of "that sort of thing" in a football ground.

There's frightening little choice in most pubs nowadays. It's Madri, Estrella, Moretti, Beaverton, Neck Oil, Inches, Guinness.

Almost everywhere.

Pre match I drink in the Beer Engine and there's loads of choice in there, but in my home village there's very little choice apart from those I've listed above.

The place I love on my trips back to Sheffield is Mitchell's at Meadowhead. What a treasure trove that place is, and I can indulge my love of German beer as they have lots of it.

Granted. I can't drink it driving down the M1 though !!!!

The pint of Jute I had on the South was rank. If that's the same on Saturday that'll be me done for beer in the ground. Good job I like Bovril 🤣

Do you think
a) rank as in off or
b) rank as in that's what it's supposed to taste like but you didn't like it

I'm pretty sure I've had it before and don't remember it being like that, so, possibly as in off.
I will try it again Saturday just to confirm.

... brave move that ...🤓

We shifted into the South Stand last year for the PL season. But we didn't enjoy it in there. So we've shifted back up to the Bramall Lane Corner for this season. When we were in there before, they didn't have Keg beer up there at all.
I'm going in the John St Exec as someone's guest for the upcoming Watford game.
I'll probably save my "Jute experience" for that.

Ooh get you!
The beer will probably get looked after better up there 🤣

I did try it again on. Saturday, it tasted better than before, but 3 of us said it tastes just like Neck Oil 🤷🏼‍♂️

Basically, we're in Brand territory. Who owns what brand is a tortuos set of multi national companies. "Simplifying" it - last year we had brands owned by Heineken. Including Amstel & Beavertown Neck Oil. This year, we're going with brands owned by Molson Coors - including Carling & Madri. The - Neck Oil A-Like - under Molson Coors is SALT Jute.

It shouldn't be like that. But it's always going to be like that. Smaller independent brewers come up with great recipes which get yer lips a-smacking. Beavertown in its day - great beers. SALT in its day - great beers. But, once they get swallowed up into BigBeer, corners get cut, ingredients change, recipes change in the scale up to bigger volume.

The pump clip, the name, the colour of the badge, the Brand become important. I'm not particularly knocking it. Way it is. But, I'm not surprised you're finding little difference between Neck Oil & Jute. Race to the middle I'm afraid.

Thank you to you and your Mates for your service in this taste test 🤓

We had a pint of Jute at HT in the SS.
Not bad at all IMO. (Nothing like Neck Oil).

The plastic glass is slight improvement too on last season’s SUFC cardboard cup.

Obviously not as good as a “glass” glass but that’s not going to happen.

Also SS, can only report what our taste buds told us 😁

Agree re the plastic glasses though, a definite improvement.

My local currently have Jaipur and Voyager on the taps and Tuesday is two pints for £6 day. Therefore it is quite obvious what I will be doing tomorrow afternoon.
In my not at all humble opinion, Jaipur has also become a bit of a brand flagship beer. It no longer stands out from the crowd like it used to. What a beer it was/(is) though. One of my Gateway Beers. I remember when I first had it - oh beers can taste like that can they.

Layered, with great flavours coming in phases. Superb.

Also. Voyager. What a beer. Although I prefer it on Keg to Cask.

Enjoy...
