Bang on match report, when the manager doesn't give a flying fuck about the game it obviously feeds down to the players, and because we all know the manager has no interest, we also as a fanbase naturally lose interest, hence the crowd, I lasted till about 55 mins and fucked off, I won't go on a rant about it but it doesn't half piss me off just writing cup competitions off like he does.🛍 Carrier Bag Firm

What bollocks is being thrown around about him? Also your last sentence sums Sheffield up absolutely perfectly as a whole tbf.I didn't go because I'm as lazy and flaky as most of the rest of our fans. I don't need to blame the manager. There's some real bollocks being thrown around about Wilder.
Big city club, small town mentality.
I could hear Wilder shouting from my seat in the John Street stand. Was urging them to get the ball forward quickly. Far too ponderous on the ball and ended up getting caught in possession repeatedly. Probably because none of them had any idea what they were supposed to be doing with it.It's people saying Wilder is throwing cup games deliberately, which I don't believe for a minute.
If people don't want to go that's fine, but everything changes when we get to semi finals and everyone thinks they deserve a ticket.
Think Everton have auto ticketing for the cup games which the season holders can sign up for .think we used to have something similar a long time ago .creates a bigger take up of all tickets .As I say, it's interesting that Everton were able to pull in such a big crowd, against "uninspiring" opposition, on the back of a somewhat unsuccessful season so far, on a Thursday night.
I also worry that some fans want their prophecy fulfilled. Rather relishing the fact it was shite. Because they had previously gone on record as saying they weren't going because it would be shite.
Well he basically does, he changes almost the entire team in every cup game and has done pretty much every year he's been at the club. And quite clearly doesn't work on anything beforehand with the team he plays. For whatever reason he has no interest in the cups. Nothing we can do about it and he's backed it up with league performances so thats that. And also nothing changes about people wanting a ticket either for a semi final because every single person who wants one gets one. It's people saying Wilder is throwing cup games deliberately, which I don't believe for a minute.

It wouldn't have made any difference anyway. Early round cup games attendances in Sheffield are always atrocious. I'm not even sure you're allowed to charge less than a tenner either, could be wrong with that though.41,000 at Villa for a televised FA cup 3rd round game was a fantastic effort from their supporters, and West Ham fans too.
The game at Bramall Lane should have been a £5 for kids and season ticket holders.
Even when full-strength , do we play a fast attractive style of attacking football which is exciting and a pleasure to watch ?I do wonder whether any other fanbase are having "these discussions". It's cold everywhere in the country. The cost of living crisis is everywhere in the country. Every club is coming off a tranche of game after game over the holiday period. Every club is looking to get bodies in and strengthen in the window. Most clubs are setting themselves for promotion, the play offs, or a relegation battle. Every club is having to dig deep. Lots of game days & kick off times are being fucked around with.
The excuses being made for an extremely poor attendance at Bramall Lane. And the so called death of the FA Cup could be levelled by (nearly) EVERY club. Yet I feel it is our attendance that will stand out as particularly poor.
More excuses in three two one....![]()
Can you blame Wilder for putting out a scratch team? He Told it how it is!.Even when full-strength , do we play a fast attractive style of attacking football which is exciting and a pleasure to watch ?
Such that you wouldn't want to miss any opportunity to be there ?
No.
We play a very dull but often effective sideways & backwards slow-paced game , relying on a miserly defence & occasional flashes of skill to see us through by fine margins.
So when the manager has warned we are struggling to field a team + we know his track record in the Cup , I can't really blame the missing 20k for putting their feet up + tuning into BBC Wales.
I feel my debating point still stands. How are we, and our situation, and what we did, any/much different from most other EFL teams in the FA Cup? And yet, 6k stands out as a particularly poor attendance. Can you blame Wilder for putting out a scratch team? He Told it how it is!.
I went to the match and wasn't surprised at the performance or result.A team without leaders amongst the experienced few players we fielded, the really young team did OK in my view.
Many! many mistakes and the big one made by the probably most experienced player out there.
Don't agree with Wilders match summary! We shaded the game both in possession and shots missed our chances yes ! and that cost us.
During Wilders two tenures we have been dumped out of the cup ( usually at home) every season apart from the 1st prem season when we reached the 6th round and Arsenal did us at the Lane.As Wilder said at the time( and I agree with him) empty ground due to covid cost us! No atmosphere ( the impetus the crowd gave us was missing).
We move on to what really matters this season! Wilders one focus and we all know what that is.
Hasn't someone already said earlier that other clubs include the early rounds in season ticket allowances?I feel my debating point still stands. No. Not on this thread. Not that I can see. The only similar point is about Everton fans being automatically charged for Cup tickets, whether they like it or not. And, I don't believe FA Cup games being in season tickets is widespread. I believe it's the exception rather than the rule.Hasn't someone already said earlier that other clubs include the early rounds in season ticket allowances?
Fair. Someone did allude to it on another thread, but concede I may have misinterpreted it.No. Not on this thread. Not that I can see.
