Shame there wasn't a question re signing updates

He probably asked but wilder probably batted it straight back saying he had nothing new to add so didnt include it on twitter. Imagine they will post the full interview later, they usually do

Are there some meaty transfers bubbling away or are we reduced to out of contract average championship players? I really hope it's the former, we cannot kick on with McGoldricks.

Interesting that there’s virtually no updates from Wilder and Giddings hasn’t uploaded the full interview. Being a bit hopeful but maybe part of the interview relating to a new signing is being held back until United make an announcement tomorrow.

Think we're waiting until Tuesday to have a look at who we can nick from the Inter first 11 :p

The Inter Blades first 11 maybe. If we're after a keeper I might just dust 'em off ;)

Not a lot to add to what’s already been said in fairness!

Bids in, growing impatient, hope to get some deals done ASAP etc. You’ve heard it all before.

No bids or interest in Lavery then? Surprising a league 1 club hasn't come in for him. Doubt he is good enough to make an impact with us now but he might, just might be one who sneaks under the radar.

When I think Lavery I think "annoying for defences, 4 goals max". He's just never really got going anywhere.

Which is ok I suppose in some scenarios, winning 6-0 at 75 minutes etc, but I just don't trust him to put stuff away like our other strikers, even Ched who has the instinct of a striker even if he's let down by other things.

Honestly, I'd go down to maybe even a decent league 2 team with him until January. Guarantee a start and see if he tears it a new one, needs to show he can caramelise an onion bag haha

He clearly hasn’t read this forum or he’d know he hasn’t got any money for high end Championship players.

Think he was saying he has money but no where near as much as other clubs to compete for proven players. Maybe that's why he emphasised things could hot up as players are returning to host clubs and decisions will be made on loans. I suspect his strategy will be young pacey PL loan players. He's got to do something until the two owners stop playing ego trumps with the club.

I'm genuinely really surprised that we're struggling to bring any more names in before now, to be honest. The reason I say that being, not because we're entitled to sign the best, but because we were riding the crest of a wave last season. We were the most exciting attacking team in the division at times last year, the side to watch, with great crowds and a brilliant vibe around the Lane, orchastrated by the manager. I'm surprised more haven't jumped at the chance to be part of that.

I wonder what it comes down to?
  • Shopping with more rivals now, for a higher calibre of player.
  • Wage restraints.
  • Players uneasy with the mess at a boardroom level and being advised against joining.
We've built real momentum here these past few years & cannot afford to lose that.

Kozzy it's all about money...how much we can afford to pay for fees...including loan fees...and how much we are.prepared to pay in wages. We could be the most exciting club in the world but if the player can earn a.few k more elsewhere or the.club he's currently at think they can get a better transfer or.loan fee they will do.

It's interesting that Wilders stance normally.is to move on if it's about the money and they don't show the desire to come but it appears he hasn't so far. He clearly really wants his top targets, question is how much longer will he wait for ?

Kozzy, a club has to accept our bid before we can talk to a player.

More like Monopoly. There's a good reason that game only gets played at Christmas, it takes until fucking Easter to finish a game. My point being, the Abdullah / Mcabe spat is going to be a lot like that, a lot of cockwaving about who's paying what and who owns what. Meanwhile, all CW can afford is Old Kent Road.

And the Water Works - because as we all know this will all end in tears

I wonder if the judge will issue any ‘Go to Jail’ cards?

Wilder gave a quite clear example of the clubs we’re competing with for quality players in mentioning “the Bournemouth player” (obviously Grabban) that went for £6m and is on “three times what our top earner is on”.

We’re not going to be making those deals. That does not mean we can’t sign any high-quality players, but we’re clearly looking at a package that’s different to something that Forest have done for Grabban. If you go in for a high bid and a big contract, clearly that’s the sort of attractive bid for the club and player, which is why it is a quicker process. We’re inevitably alongside others, presumably most of whom will be able to match what we can offer. Those deals might not come off, and if they do will likely take a bit more time.

"competing with other clubs for signatures"
- means that we are not offering as much in wages or fees - because we can't afford - so, players will be considering their choices based on how much their agents get out of it.

Wilder's obvious frustration in that interview tells me that he is not confident about getting his first choice options.
He stated he was impatient - tells me we are being fobbed off by agents looking to tout their players to other clubs to see if they can increase their booty.

I'm sure we will do something before the deadline comes - but I suspect it won't be what Wilder was planning for.

Deffo need to add a solid CB and another striker option - both to compete for a starting position from the off

Genuine question. Do we just accept we can't compete with the might of Forest, Derby at al for signings and that's us going forward. Or do we need new owners with the financial wherewithal to get us 'in the game' ?

For those who say where are these new owners I answer how come Forest,Derby, Wolves,Bournemouth, Southampton, Leicester, Burnley managed to find them ? Does anyone think it's anything to do with our long time owner, who has clearly dropped another major b0llock with the Prince....oh and I know it's that naughty agenda again !

Until the JTW or next summer if last season's signings are anything to go by.
