My perspective.2 tight offside decisions, 2 chances to the opposition 2 goals, although as Dack shot near the end I laid a fuckin egg. Admittedly 2 very soft goals to concede, pub league defending but on another day could have been 5-2. That cunt of a keeper had a reight game even Billy asked him how the fuck did tha save that, it was point blank and it hit him rather than being saved. As pointed out in the title for me we were unlucky despite fucking it up at the back again. I don't think even us blades can be that unlucky again this season surely... Anyway slash and smash as much as you want to apart from switching off at the back for 10 mins and in my eyes being very unlucky nowt much wrong performance wise. (MATT DONE IS NOT A WING BACK)

Agree we were unlucky, it was a really entertaining game.
But as Wilder said in his post match interview you can't keep blaming it on bad luck.
We seem to create 10 good chances to score most matches but we only usually convert 2 of them.
We usually have 10 to 15 corners most matches but don't convert enough.

Wilder mentioned a good point in his interview and questioned the players attitude calling them "big time".
He said becuase we were playing well then the players automatically expected to win.
Anyway let's see how they react on Tuesday.

Yep agreed I will see better defending in the rec off the local pub team in the morning, all of whom will have significant hangovers, having said that I still feel we were unlucky not to get 3pts.

Personally I thought we were sloppy in defence and both the players and Wilder learnt nothing from last week. That's maybe a little harsh sitting top of the league but for a team at the top our goals against record should be a lot better. We will never be a side that aims to keep it tight and nick the odd goal but a couple of goals at home should be enough to win the game. We shouldn't be expected to have to score 3 or 4 because the defence can't do they're job

The midfield seem to be escaping unscathed they completely switched off for both goals, yes the defence was poor but equally to blame was the three in cm who made a snail look like Usain Bolt for a 10 minute spell, all well and good with the ball their work without it needs to improve. Take that spell out of the game where both def and mid were asleep and its an easy win, but taking everything into consideration i still feel luck was against us today.

a bit unlucky but also a bit naive.. let's face it we all thought the second half was a formality including most of the fans..

Given the level we have been playing at I thought we were very poor today. Only after their second goal did we have fast paced, high tempo football, we then reverted to pedestrian sloppy football. It wasn't good enough.

Corrected for you ;)

I thought the team did reasonably well in the first half, but came out in the second with their brains still in the changing room., plus the fact that they seemed to look a bit tired, also playing against a team of time wasters and
cheats, plus a dodgy linesman and a poor ref, you can't put it all down to poor finishing can you?
..just my thoughts:confused:

It was Coutts who failed to put a tackle in for the first goal. We are an attack minded side with attacking midfielders so we are going to be vulnerable at the back. We need to make sure our final ball into the box is better, too often we fail to get it past the first defender.

Ooh, there's a first...

On balance United were the better team but I certainly didn't come away from the game feeling hard done to, rather I was annoyed with the second half performance. As I said in the Shoutbox the team came out for the second half expecting to stroll to victory. They didn't really start to play until Gillingham equalised, and weren't a sustained threat until they wen't behind. And if we continue to defend like that we're going to drop points, and rightly so. People forget that we rode our luck a fair bit with that first unbeaten run, what goes around comes around.

What unlucky we got awfull defence that cant keep cleano to save there lives , take the blindfold off this defence wont get us up

That was more evident last week as Walsalls midfield burst through on counter attacks as ours struggled to get back

When Wilder talked about luck he wasn't referrring to the defence.
He was talking about when a team has numerous attacking opportunities, numerous corners and numerous chances then that team should score more than 2 goals.

We had 16 shots with 7 shots on target
Gills had 7 shots with only 2 on target.
We had 13 corners compared to Gillinghams 1 corner.

The stats above prove yet again our dominance. We also had 2 goals disallowed.
Much of our passing was fantastic and apart from 10 minutes at the beginning of the second half Gillingham just sat back.

Wilder rightly didn't want to blame things on bad luck because it's happening too often.
He's right because we although we are top scorers, we should have many many more goals.

Now the question is does Wilder continue with his all out attack policy where we create loads of chances every match but are vulnerable to the odd counter attacks

Or does he copy Phil Parkinson, Nigel Clough, Nigel Adkins and have us more defensive so we don't concede. He could be more tactical and negative by not committing men forward.

I know which style I'd prefer. Although yesterday was 2 points dropped it WAS a very entertaining game.

Are you for real?
It's not about keeping clean sheets. You don't get extra points.

The rules of football are when a team scores more than the opposition they win.
So if we conceded 4 but score 5 that's a WIN and 3 points.

Wilder said when he came that he knows what the fans want.
It seems some Blades would prefer tactically defensive 1-0 wins like when we had Clough/ Adkins.
