Last week you might remember a post on the forum from a journalist at the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph, asking for fans to take part in a "Fanzone" feature ahead of Saturday's match.

Well I replied and after a further exchange of emails I was chosen to take part (sorry Beighton!). I was sent a series of questions and asked to write 4/5 paragraphs in response to each. It was quite difficult in places as there was overlap in both questions and answers, but I eventually completed a 4 page word doc and sent it back to him ahead of the Wednesday morning deadline.

It was apparently published last night. If we have a ScunnyBlade posting on here, he/she might be able to confirm. I am not sure how much it was edited (quite a bit I guess), but the Bristol City feature he sent as an example had fewer questions and a large picture taking up half the page. I am awaiting a pdf of the article by email and a copy of the paper in the post. In the meantime, I thought some of you might be interested in what they wanted to know and what I had to say.

I'd like to think I am a pretty level-headed fan, but neither do I view everything about the club through Red & White tinted spectacles. You might agree/disagree with my views, but hopefully it might encourage some debate. After all, that is what newspaper articles and forums like this are all about.

Cheers

I wish they'd picked BB instead.......

Actually, I find that a very fair-minded and balanced piece, cheers.

Can't find much to fault in that lot.

Only thing I would challenge is the level of expectation at the begining of the season. I thought we'd be lucky to be in a play-off spot and most of the people I go to/see at matches were of a similar opinion.

I personally think you are spot on with just about everything you have written and i, for one, really enjoyed reading such a well written critique of the current state of affairs at BDTBL.

Thanks for posting.

Agree with Jodman. Think it's a very balanced accurate account. I disagree with you on a few matters, but they are small and trivial (and just down to opinion). Thanks for an interesting read and putting across a well structured critique of current life as a Sheffield United fan. Good work Shreds.

What's the betting it appears in the paper as:

"Blades fan says Iron on for a stuffing"

When asked, Blades supporter, Shreddies1957, said "Err, I've never rated Scunny and I think our boys are going to come over there and give you a right tonking". He went on to say "You must be a crap club because Billy Sharp managed to be your top scorer".

This is the article. After editing it reads reasonably well. I wasn't sure I liked the headline, but after reading of yesterday's events it's probably fair. Still arguing amongst ourselves, still no tactical alternative.

If anything it places Blackwell under even more pressure than I suggested. Then again, I never thought I would see us lose 3-1 at Scunthorpe FFS!
