Are Sheffield United to follow in Arsenal's footsteps and offer free season tickets to all long suffering fans who had to watch the garbage on show last season?

(If you have not heard, following the Gooners - more ways than one - disastrous display at Old Trafford on Sunday, all who suffered it are being offered a free ticket to another away game. Trust it won't be at Eastlands!)

Erm...no. Though I wish!

There's a big difference between Arsenals poor match and our poor season: The Blades are not expected to tear though the division. Arsenal fans do expect this (or at least to have a good shot at it). Blades fans buy tickets to enjoy the football and support their local team...not expecting them to always win, or in the case of last season win at all. Proper fans.

Bit of a rant and slightly off topic here, but it really annoys me when companies do this. What Arsenal, and Ipswich for that matter, should be doing here is refunding all fans who travelled for their match ticket and travel otherwise it's not a real refund. It's like when you stay in a hotel and have a rubbish experience, complain and all they do is offer you money of your next stay. How does that compensate for the original rubbish experience? Obviously a football club is different to a hotel and Arsenal fans are unlikely to move to "another brand" as you would in another walk of life, but it would go some way to healing a broken relationship between club and fans.

What worries me is that Arsenal youngsters tore us apart the other season in the cup, where are they now? And we are re'lying on our youngsters now.

Your post got me thinking so I looked up the Arsenal team from that night:

Fabianski, Hoyte, Djourou, Song Billong (Lansbury 70), Gibbs, Randall, Ramsey, Merida (Coquelin 71), Wilshere, Bendtner (Simpson 71), Vela.

That groups not done too badly really. I reckon seven of those are part of their first team squad now.
