Sometimes it is a fine line between success and failure. 'What if' is ultimately a meaningless exercise, but it is easy to forget the many good performances that season; Danny Wilson must allow himself the occasional wry smile at the thought that in a 'normal' season his team's points tally would have been more than enough for automatic promotion, and some years would have made us champions. Life can be a bitch (but not at the moment). :)

not a big believer but everything really could happen for a reason, look at the way the club, staff, fans and players are UNITED now, nothing like we've ever seen before even under warnock. Those players absolutely love each other, see every celebration if you don't believe me!

Wycombe Wanderers 1 Sheffield United 0
Leyton Orient 1 Sheffield United 1
Sheffield United 4 Exeter City 4
Stevenage 2 Sheffield United 1

Remember that feelgood feeling well...

In every season, including this season there are disappointing scores.

Aye but the "ah! fuck it, let's get on with it" sort of attitude after the Walsall 4-1 or the Fleetwood 2-0 this season has been light years away from the rancour after some of those defeats (or even draws) back in 2011.

Agree with you about how things have felt this year. Will those same players love each other if we hit a bad run next year, with defensive howlers, missed sitters, and a moaning crowd? I did say 'if', not 'when'.

There are some striking similarities to this year. 15 clean sheets, same as this year (so far), did the double over 9 clubs, same as this year (so far). Very likely we'll do the double over Chesterfield and MKD as well. Goal difference +41, currently +39, so likely to be better this year. This post seemed like a good idea when I started it but I'm not sure why I bothered nor.

Because it shows the fine line between success and failure. It's easy to get carried away at the moment (we all feel the same right now), but success and failure, particularly for managers, can be decided by random events outside their direct control.
