Walker, young kid, making his debut, goes on a run, takes on about 4 players, fails at the final hurdle and doesnt get the ball out to the waiting left winger

que some twat shouting, ''pass the ball for fuck sake, you are fucking shit''

also, the treatment cotterill gets is fucking disgusting, the lad is 20, hes low on confidence, and hes only played bits and parts, we have seen he can do it, so why get on his back, encourage him!!

if naughton plays a bad ball the fans wouldnt dream of getting on his back

cotterill loses the ball, trying to do something different, beat a man, the fans go mad at him

he seemed to be getting his game together in the second half yesterday, but im sure next time he plays at the lane, he will have any confidence he gains knocked out of him again!

What about the sarcastic laugh when Monty cleared a ball and it went for a throw in?

Some people just wait to get on people's backs... but I think now is the time for everyone to get behind the team.

The problems or limitations with some players are more than obvious to see... but getting on their backs at the match achieves nothing.... except making you look a bit hard in front of your mates because you can tell a professional footballer what to do.

Each to their own, but whinging ain't for me.

Agree that cotteril is lacking confidence big time, but think there is more to it than that. football supporters generally and Blades specifically are noted for their tolerance and understanding of the game.

No matter how many of us call for us ALL to get behind the boys, the minority of morons will remain unfortunately!

Again ill put forward the point, They are professional footballers earning a sack load but cant do basic things like move into space and pass instead of taking on another man.

Myself, i'm without a job at the moment, I'v very little money as it is and going to home and away games to watch players getting paid thousands week in week out after practising all week, not to do the basic stuff like pass and move, play it basic, move into space.

young lad, debut, was unfortunate not to get the ball out, gets abuse

same people shouted that it was a shit ball from a cross, until halford headed it in

so you think this is good for a kid, on debut, proberbly nervous?

what ever you or other peoples failings and issues with jobs has nothing to do with it.

That the same for cotterill? I wasn't standing walker in the spot light, webber howard have been the same recently, whats there excuse?

Course other peoples failings of jobs has things to do with it, other people as in pro footballers are failing to do the basics in there job and its nothing to do with me?

Bang on the money Keenzy !

I think the point that was originally trying to be made was that a young lad making his first team debut was getting stick.

I agree with giving players stick that have been around the game a while, the likes of like you say Webber, Howard, Cotterill etc, but a young lad making his first team debut, surely you think that's slightly harsh??

Yes it is harsh, but life is. I was talking in general like.

For his mistakes, blackwell should sit him down and tell him about them personally, but being around the age of said player, id like to be on his wages playing in a blades shirt and have the odd person shout at me, pull your socks up and get on with it, want to be a footballer, expect it then go and prove them wrong IMO

Would it make a difference if you would have a job?
Can t understand why some people are always negative about nearly everything, always the glass half empty. Stay positive is the best you can do as a Blade, and who knows we will get our positive surprise at the end of the season. If not we start another season full of hope and expectations.

i'd do it for free! To run out at Bramall Lane would be a dream realised!

I've done it as a mascot!

Not sure whether it was a dream or a bizarre nightmare though, as I did have to sit on Nathan Blakes knee and the boot room bloody stunk back then :D

No it wouldn't make a difference having a job or not, just puts it more into perspective not having one and struggling around.

Pro footballers struggling to basic things which i can do isn't great!

Like I said last night.

Well 2am in the morning.

I was going to go to bed, have 4 hours sleep and then get up and work for an annual wage which equals what most of them lads will get in a week. They were driving home in their flash cars for a nice sleep and probably, a morning off.

Pointless being bitter about it... more money doesn't mean they deserve abuse. I think given the choice, more people would rather be poor than racially stereotyped or likened to a rapist.

Criticism is not the same as abuse.

We wasnt about abuse, it was about players moving into an open space, or laying off the ball instead of taking on 4 players.

Racial abuse and linked to a rapist isnt clever.

Mind i get hairist remarks off you :D

I wasn't meaning you personally... just in general. There's criticising someone because they aren't doing as they should. And there's calling them all the names under the sun because they aren't doing as they should.

One can be constructive, the other rarely so :)

As far as this place goes, criticise the players, the management and the board all you want.

But have good arguments and fair points... you're much more likely to find middle ground with someone than turning to abuse and name calling.

I also have a criticism of people on coaches...

£10 BURGHOUSE!! :D

there's telling people to do there job and just being a prat.

Boot rooms stink anyway, all that drying out leather, dubbin and moisture....yeeeuucchh!

It's not just our fans who are like this. Imagine people boo'ing Ronaldo when he messes something up.

What it is is that the majority of football fans are blokes, and we all think that we can do better. It's just a bloke thing, some people shout it out loud and make themselves look a prick, most others say it quietly or just in their heads!! :)

If you're a pro-footballer on thousands a week a few shouts from a pissed up bloke wouldn't dampen my spirit.

most fans are jealous on players wages and think they can do and say whatever they want (to the players).

footballers are paid bags of money and they really should work as hard as possible. if they are lacking quality though fans should rather slam off the gaffer who brought the player to the club than the player himself (not every player is up for it, but will take the money and make the most of it)

I personally think that the remuneration they receive more than makes up for most of the abuse they get, excepting the nastier stuff which is frankly disgusting and would be prosecuted occuring anywhere else.

However the environment itself will lead to more mistakes. Let me explain that one. I do my job, mostly in an office or other peoples offices, occasionally because of the nature of the work I may get a bit of verbal and a few names, but nothing too nasty or regular. Most others on here that are fortunate enough to be working, will work in an environment where they are never doing their job in front of several thousand very critical people screaming at you for the smallest of mistakes (which everyone will do from time to time). Might make you a little bit edgy when you get to do your bit (which I think is the big problem with said Cotterill), leading to a higher probability (given being on edge) of more mistakes. Takes a certain type of attitude to keep coming back for more and forget what went before. I know just about all my staff would crumble and not cope if I screamed abuse every time they made a mistake, AND they have been more than adequately trained to do the job so I would be justified!!

Just a few thoughts on both sides of the argument!!

this is the sort of idiot im talking about

http://www.bladesunited.org/msg/58282.html

if beattie had done nothing all game, but scored one, and set one up, he would have been gods gift.

but because its sharp, hes shit.

surley beattie was shit for doing nothing except scoring if sharp is shit for doing nothing except scoring (although i thought he did more than nothing on tues)

seems like praise and and grief is given out depending on the name on your shirt

I'd buy into that argument, certain fans definately seem to live by that rule. Me i prefer to pass judgement on players game by game, performance by performance

The rational and logical football fan is as much an oxymoron as American Intelligence, O wise one!!

Exactly the reason Kyle Naughton get clapped when he concedes a throw in, but Monty absolutely slaughtered.

Some people decide how players have played before they even step foot on the pitch, rather than watching what they actually do.

to be fiar, usually when monty gives a throw away, is because he has just failed at a 5 yard pass

To be fair, Monty probably has the best pass completion/failure ratio at the club.

People just prefer to ignore this.
