Saw this statistic on Twitter the other day.

Now they’ve parted company with John Pemberton after losing 3-2 to part-timers Altrincham last night, which was their 6th defeat in 8 games.

That club is rotten.

They've been on downhill since Paul Cook left, I cant see any manger out there who can get them out of this rot.

They went with Martin Allen and brought back John Sheridan, they both failed on big budgets for National League.

I really can't see anything but a slide into oblivion for them from where they are. They are now owned by the fans and have loans from the council. I presume that the loans from the council are going to be defaulted on when they inevitably go into administration.

I know a few local businessmen who have put in cash and a lot of time over the last few years but they aren't 'rich' men in terms of football, they are businessmen with the associated debts and pressures of running a small local business.

It needs a sugar daddy to get them out of this mess and the only way they'll get that is by getting picked up for a song post-administration.

Sad times for them, it's looking hopeless. My first home game was a 3-1 defeat to them under Bassett, I think it was new year's day, though might be wrong. It was a cracking match, Stan the Man sent off and Booker grabbing their centre half after Agana's goal to stop him trying to break every bone in Tony's body each time he touched the ball. The official crowd was about 15k but the kop was packed that day, and there were a fair few from Chesterfield too. Fingers crossed something turns up, or at least they unearth a 25 goal a season striker that we can buy to keep them in business and us in the PL! Didn't Kevin Davies start with them?

Never minded Chesterfield a few blades from that neck of the woods and now our under 23s etc use their ground but since Paul Cook they’ve rapidly dropped probably financiers too be nice for them to get back in the league but think it’ll be Wrexham that will be the new Fleetwood

Wrexham “Recks-hame” were a hot topic on the US Soccer radio call-in yesterday thanks to their new owners

That’s reminded me of the good old days where every time the United job came up folk were suggesting either Pemberton or O’Driscoll get it.

He once presented our football trophies when he was still at Chesterfield, I'd have been about 13. I remember asking him if he was still a Blade and he said "once a Blade always a Blade". I've liked him ever since.
His dad (played for GB in the 1965 deaflympics at Washington DC) supported the dark side

To be fair, neither would have done any worse than the ones appointed instead at the time, although that’s not saying much.

Just seen they were winning 2-1 against Notts County in stoppage time today.

It finished Chesterfield 2-3 Notts County.

Wow.

I remember Notts County in the "Top Flight" under Warnock, their fall from grace has been quite rapid also. I went to school in Chesterfield and sometimes went to Saltergate with school mates to see their heroes of the time, Ernie Moss, Ray Tingay, Randall, a striker whose name escapes me, Polish sounding name, maybe Kowolski (someone help me out here), I may have seen Jim Brown pre Blades (its all a very long time ago)

Chesterfield must be praying that there is a Hollywood A star celebrity to save them, like with Wrexham!
