United and Hull kit clash

Maybe it was just me , but did anyone else have difficulty with the Hull and United kits looking similar from a distance? I was on the Kop and for the first goal I thought it was a Hull player on the ball and was (pleasantly) shocked when it went in. Yes maybe I do need my eyes testing!
I thought the same

Their second kit is white. Their third kit is black. They should have been told to wear black shirts and white shirts and socks

It wouldn’t be difficult to remedy either -

Ref asks the teams to submit the kits they are going to wear to him a couple of days before the match. He can then decide whether there could be a colour clash by comparing the two. Both in stripes and both with black shorts in last nights case. He could then ask Hull to nominate a second kit, and so on.

It’s not rocket science but our football authorities are oblivious to common sense.

Yes, I did.

I thought exactly the same

They should have been told to wear the Colchester away shirt like we had to back in 1981 when we turned up at their gaff without an alternative shirt and we clashed with them. Importantly we played like them that day too and were 3 down in no time and crashed 5-2 (and we were on MOTD that night too which was rare for a 4th division game). Hull should have been made to play Keith Waugh in their net too last night, as he had a fuckin nightmare that day for us back in 81 at Layer Road.
Only good thing that day was being told by a copper that we had signed a cracking winger from Blackpool - Colin Morris .

Weird thing with kit clashes is the inconsistency, some refs treat Hull's amber as clashing with red, others let Chelsea and Man City both wear their home kits. A few years back a ref decided black and amber clashed with back and white when Hull played at Newcastle, which might seem fair enough, but their away kit was silver and it was foggy.

Yes those around me and I said the same

...but we did get promoted I think that season!

My old eyes really struggled. I spent most of the match looking at the socks instead of my usual struggle to see the players’ faces.

Not a problem

They were gold and black

We were red and white

I thought it was just me! I actually find it hard to believe that they were allowed to wear that kit ,especially as most teams wear their away kits even when there is not a clash. But the stripes and black shorts made it difficult to distinguish between them , especially as the game wore on , and there is nowt wrong with my eyes I will add!

I watched it on Sky Red button last night (a trip up the M1 and a midnight finish was too much for me after 5 days at work) and I REALLY struggled to distinguish the teams on TV.

So you're not on your own 😂😂😂😂

I thought it was just me . Me to when they were at the far end . both in black shorts and the stripes became just all mixed up .

Contributed to another less than average sutv experiences also. Shit sound, buffering then the kit clash. One benefit of going up is the availability of all games live in HD with commentary and actual crowd noise!!

TBH I've often said we should adopt the home team plays in its home kit, away team plays in a plain white kit, those that have white home kits excepted, that way if home team plays in white, away team plays in their home kit.
So teams can still make money, change away kit style, piping etc but stay predominantly white.
That way it will never clash with opponents or even officials

Thought it immediately. Bet it was hard to watch on TV

I am so glad that I am not the only one who thought these kits clashed!

It's strange because sometimes when we've played away and had to wear our home kit we would rock up in white shorts instead of black. Hull were halfway there with the white socks.

The trouble with night matches is... well it is dark. Both teams with a lot of black really strained my eyes.
