Maybe it was just me , but did anyone else have difficulty with the Hull and United kits looking similar from a distance? I was on the Kop and for the first goal I thought it was a Hull player on the ball and was (pleasantly) shocked when it went in. Yes maybe I do need my eyes testing!

As a general rule I like it when away teams play in their home kits but I found it difficult to make them out at the Lane end from the back of the Kop. In the old days they weren't allowed to wear the same coloured shorts but that seems to have gone by the wayside; they both wore black last night.

Nope, we're also on the kop and said exactly the same.

I guess they don't worry about the fans if the ref and players can see the difference.

Yes, made worse by both teams wearing black shorts, I always thought they had to be different colours? Compounded by the fact that the backs of both teams’ shirts were solid, so no great differentiation there either.
I also seem to remember something about not wearing the same colour shorts. I struggled to differentiate them. I said to my friend we should have changed to our away strip at half time (if they couldn't change).

Man U changed strips at half time once when Fergie was in charge so the precedent has been set

I had no problem with it and I'm colourblind, plus my left eye is slightly fucked. Then again, visual perception is a very subjective thing.

Yes it was. Since when are both teams allowed to wear the same colour shorts.

Didnt attend last night, but watched it on the telly. It was difficult to differentiate between the teams at times - was half expecting a Hull shirt change at half time.
Yep, the shite red button coverage is like watching through a goldfish bowl at the best of times and the kits were way too similar.

Yes both mu daughter and myself sit in TC stand and had trouble distinguishing between the kits -especially as they wore the same colour shorts as someone else said.

I’m not against away teams wearing their home strip, but, as my missus said last night, you would think that in these days of first, second and often third strips, they could have picked something that didn’t clash with us. We both found it difficult to pick out the differences, particularly when the action was taking place on the far wings.

Watching on TV in Cork it was very difficult at times to distinguish the players, 2 team's in stripes and black shorts, basic error by the officials
At least the sock colour helped.

Thought the same and sure the players (Berge and Ndiaya) played instinctive passes on occasions that went straight to their players.

Summed up the referee who could not even get the strips correct
Be interested to hear if hecky thought the same

It wasn't just you. I struggled at times.

I always tend to struggle with stripes vs stripes anyway but last night I couldn’t tell who was who (sat on the kop and it was especially bad when the ball was at the BL end)

I had the same problem watching on TV. I assumed it was just me as I am visually impaired. At one point I screamed for our guy to hit it only for him to turn around and clear the ball.

It was probably still a United player having a flashback to WilderBall where at times, we had to take 30 passes when 3 would do the same job. Another option would be that the United player was pissed.

They should have been told to wear the Colchester away shirt like we had to back in 1981 when we turned up at their gaff without an alternative shirt and we clashed with them. Importantly we played like them that day too and were 3 down in no time and crashed 5-2 (and we were on MOTD that night too which was rare for a 4th division game). Hull should have been made to play Keith Waugh in their net too last night, as he had a fuckin nightmare that day for us back in 81 at Layer Road.

To quote the Hull Ranter, Darren Bent is a shocking referee!
