It's been good to see Ironside get a few cameos of late though. Bit surprised we didn't further build on that by putting him on yesterday too, rather than Cresswell?

I think that is probably because Cofie was on rather than Miller - I doubt Danny would want two inexperienced strikers on the pitch at the same time, even if we were 3-0 up.

That said, I'm not sure Ironside would have gained anything yesterday - I don't think Cresswell touched the ball. Maybe he went on to remind Scunthorpe that he's still around with the hope that they'll make us an offer?!

cofie certainly looks a bit beefier these days and was up for the game for a change.. a run in the team could do wonders.. doyle getting back to his best and flynn and macmahon starting to look the real deal.. kmac worth the price of entry by himself

This is the trouble with some fans on here, you look too much in the past especially when regarding to players past performances. I would admit I haven't been impressed with Cofie when he has played however, he was worth the 45 minutes Danny gave him. Nice to see that he decided to go with pace of Cofie than the slow ageing legs of Cresswell, give the kid some credit, yeah he's no finished article...yet, however was good to see him trying tricks and looking to beat his defender and you cant deny his commitment when trying and nearly succeeding in charging down Mildenhall. I don't know what some 'fans' expect for Saturdays game but I would see him start with Kitson give him that chance if of course Miller will be out.

It's not a hunch. Doesn't come from that kind of academy without ability. I know the type of players they develop. We work alongside Manchester United, you don't get there on a hunch.

I was really looking forward to seeing Cofie when we brought him in. Unfortunately, despite numerous opportunities, he hasn't delivered. He's still young and so could improve but at the moment he doesn't look good enough for a top League 1 side, never mind Man United. I keep hoping he will grasp the opportunities he's given but it just isn't happening.

I don't think it's anything to do with how we play. He's been given the ball in good positions several times but, other than the odd occasion, he hasn't delivered. He certainly needs to make more of his pace and size. He's easily knocked off the ball and never really runs at players with any conviction.

I want anyone who plays for us to do well but we can't wait forever.

It would feel more worthwhile to play him to develop him if we thought/knew he was going to be our player in the future as well. But you're right, if Miller is out, putting Cofie in up front is probably the move that will cause the least disruption, let's hope he grabs the chance.

With Miller out and Kitson probably struggling to play twice in a week these days, I think he'll start. I want him to do well, like I wasnt all our players to do well, but am mindful that he is here to gain some fist team pro experience to help him develop his career elsewhere and unlike our own young players, we won't see a penny reward from that. If he's contributing enough he starts, if he's not, then he doesn't. Part of the reason SAF sends players out to clubs like ours is to assess whether they have the backbone for the game as much as the skill so for me he'll be judged on how much he shows up for the ball when we're losing and playing badly rather than when we're coasting. C- for me atm.

Kitson: 7 - I'm going to disagree with some of the views above. I don't think Kitson deserved an ovation - yes, he's a clever footballer and you can see his experience but I wonder how much his heart is in this. The first half in particular his positioning was dreadful - wandering around the central midfield area when we were breaking forward. However, the goal he scored was first class - across his man to thump a header into the roof of the net.

He seemed to be playing in a deliberately withdrawn role, almost playing 'in the hole'. Someone sat near us said he played in a similar position v Crawley?

Think the squad's going to get a real test over coming weeks. No Collins and Miller for a while, McMahon suspended v Hartlepool and Maguire and Blackman both on 4 yellows. Encouraging signs yesterday though, particularly the tempo we set off at and the way we closed down from the front (reminscent of last season).

He was definitely playing behind Miller and then Cofie but it was the lack of effort to get into the right position which annoyed me a bit. Towards the end of the first half we broke from a Scunthorpe corner, the ball came to Flynn who set off towards their goal. The move was crying out for someone to make a central run but Kitson checked then ran round the back of Flynn towards the left touchline.

He remains a very good player - the fact that the ball "sticks" to him is testament to that. However, I'm beginning to wonder if he's not a little too arrogant.

the overall squad is solid , based on sound defence, clean sheets and when conceding keeping it to the minimum will be the guiding light , then scoring eases the tension and collects us the points
simple game football

It's a risk we are going to probably have to take now. Unless we realease funds to bring a winger and move Blackman inside.

Did you go today mate? Still agree that we need to be using him more effectively? If so, woud you suggest that would be making the tea, or putting out the rubbish?:)

Serioulsy, get Blackman up front and find a wide man is the way we have to go, IMHO.

Bit harsh Alc, we didn't set up properly to give him a tap in every five minutes, poor ikkle lam by wamby.

No room for pea hearted passengers on the play off bus.

No I didn't go. How exactly did we play today? I do mean shit or rubbish. I mean style wise?

Rubbish - bad day at the office for too many today is the best spin I could put on it. A sign of the effect of losing Miller and Collins is the more worrying possibility.
