Free kick inside the penalty area
Direct or indirect free kick to the defending team:
  • all opponents must be at least 9.15 m (10 yds) from the ball
  • all opponents must remain outside the penalty area until the ball is in play
  • the ball is in play when it is kicked directly out of the penalty area
  • a free kick awarded in the goal area may be taken from any point inside that area

I half-saw this, Williams was in their technical area (possibly on his way out/back from warming up) and it did appear some sort of 'clash' happened. It looked very much like they'd sprayed him in the face with one of those drinks bottles, but could be wrong.

Anyway, there was much agitation from the United technical team (didn't think I'd ever find myself saying that!), remonstrations to the fourth official, radioing up to Morgan in the South Stand and, eventually, a United official in a Macron top having a word with the referees' assessor.

It was a complete accident. Their right back had gone to their dugout for a drink after the goal. He turned to run back on the pitch, hadn't seen Williams who was on his way back after his warm up and his head smashed into Williams' nose.

agree about porter.. porter won 'every' header.. i was saying at half time we could go route one for a laugh if we got desperate.. doyle was on one and was absolutely immense..
