I don't understand your comment on Duffy - 'Given a chance tonight again and did not take it'.

'Again'?

You say that like he didn't take his chance on Saturday when he was the one player who made the biggest difference to our play.

He was also taken off for feeling light headed and sent to hospital which explains his performance.

I meant given a chance tonight again as he had played Saturday so he was given another opportunity. Might have seemed critical but just meant given another start.

Saturday he made the goal and did ok but not sure he was outstanding.

Last night he was really poor. When did he get a knock? For the first 20 mins he gave the ball away time after time and you could tell by his body language how disappointed he was.

I like him but he is very inconsistent. He played as many poor games last season as good ones which gets lost in all the hullabaloo when discussing him. When ge was good though he was superb and unplayable at times.

However he would play most games for me as he can always make something happen as he showed Saturday. I will say when someone is poor though and last night he was.

I love your reports Deadbat regardless of whether I agree with everything in them or not.

Absolutely agree with you on Stevens who I thought had a really good game and was unfortunate not to score (showed great technique for the volley too).
Agree with you on Leon too, he's got no form at the moment and a few times the ball just bounced off him. Needs a scrappy goal to get some confidence back, I'm sure it will come. At the moment the problem is, who would you play instead?
One point I disagree on is that although Norwood looks a superb player, great passing range and I was admiring the way he strikes the ball (which made the penalty miss even more surprising), I don't think he can tackle properly. A couple of times he seemed to half-heartedly make challenges and the only other time it was blatant foul.

I think the salient points re Clarke & Duffy is one of consistency & mental fortitude & are reflective of the fact that neither has progressed to upper echelons of the game - both have played the majority of their careers as lower league journeymen.

Thus their week in week out performances are littered with inconsistencies & mediocrity inter mingled with brief flurries of exceptional play.

The worrying thing for me is how opposition teams are making loads of chances without really having to work very hard for them. The other thing is our lacklustre forwards Sharp aside, possession stats mean bugger all if you are 3 goals down inside the first half hour and can't score yourself.

Now I’m depressed :(
