Thanks DB. Another 'not very surprising' match write up. Nil-nil against a team we should be shitting all over in front of a bumper, Bank Holiday crowd with everything to play for.

Funny isn't it. We have players come, and players go. Some come to BDTBL and play shit, and they get yards of criticism from us lot, then they move on and pull up trees (if not some ways better than when they were at our gaff). We miss a sackload of pretty good opportunities to sign proven goalscorers, but then again, given what happens to them when they get to Bramall Lane, possibly not such a bad thing. Everyone who comes here, plays like a cunt. Players like Ricardo Fuller, Cameron Jerome, Jason Scotland, Jamie Cureton, Chris Commons, Grant Holt, David Nugent, Dexter Blackstock, Michael Chopra - all sat round warming benches during the past six or eight years, all with proven strike capability. But what happens when they come to BDTBL? Doesn't matter what manager we have, by the way. Blackwell, Warnock, Speed ... we get players like that in - Hulse, for example, and the whole fucking assembly falls to bits. Look at the squad we have. Just look at the quality on offer. It is actually there if you look close enough. We have some pretty bloody good players - we did last season and the season before when we fucked it up then as well. But they come to the Lane and play like cunts. The only player who has developed reasonably well in the past five years is now sat in the slammer. He only started playing well when we dropped a league, because before that he was fucking abysmal. Look at the players who were shite who left us. Britton and Dyer at Swansea, Johnny Stead at Bristol City, Nyron fucking Nosworthy at Watford, Stephen Quinn at Hull City, Richie de Laet at Leicester, Jamie Ward at Derby, CKR at Blackburn ... they've al managed to find the net this season one way or another yet with some exceptions were shite, with shite aspects when they wore the stripes. You may not agree here, but something gets to the players as soon as they drive into the car park. The excitement we feel ... 'Oooh ... we've signed such-and-such,' turns into disappointment as soon as they run out onto that pitch and play our style of non-connected, hit-and-hope crap.

Yet when they move on, it's another story in most cases ...

Anyone else want to offer an explanation?

God hates us is the best I can come up with.

Great post Pommpey....you can add ahr Billy and a couple of others to that list. It's because they have a couple of bad games and they're immediately slagged off mercilessly by our wonderful "supporters".
So they leave and do the business where they are appreciated.
In fact the slagging off of some of the players in this thread is disgraceful.

Couldnt go today with work, so thanks for the report DB. I really thought today was going to be the day we rolled up our sleeves and battered Carlisle, giving us true belief. I was actually pleased to see Poleon start on the wing and it sounds like he did nothing.

The theme seems to be we will now go to Walsall and win. Its depressing how poor we have been at home, what the hell is going on?

Thanks for the report Deaders, not good reading and not looking good for the rest of the season. All sounds a bit like last year where we weren't brilliant but we were adequate. Ched's goals gave us a false sense of just how good we were, the abysmal standard of the teams in this division seems to have done the same this season.

We aren't good, no one at this level is, just that others seem to have a bit more grit and organisation about them than us. Can't believe our home form is going to fuck us up, that really is piss poor.

I usually see positives even in the most negative of results but I I found the game totally unacceptable from United. In particular Robson,Kitson,McMahon and Forte were a waste of a shirt .

Why we play Robson in home games is beyond me. He plays wide right bit but his crossing and passing are awful. Surely replacing him with Murphy would have been better.

As for the Forte miss,Ironside's lack of pace in the build up cost him as he really should have scored first. Forte however should has got the shot on target.

This was a missed opportunity yesterday and, with Bournemouth currently on a run similar to the pigs last season,Walsall is a must win game for us. This may suit us as it should leave us with space to get behind them.

The only positive for me was the return of Murphy.

No, it is entirely justified. The players let themselves and the fans down, again. The crowd got behind the players, but they simply did not respond. |That was an unacceptable performance.

If you think fans of other clubs do not slag off poor performing players, you are naive in the extreme.

In defence of Robson and the corner that didn't happen at half-time.
1, His hearing aid ran out of batteries and he couldn't hear around 18,000 fans shouting "get the fuck on with it"
2, Was shit scared of putting another poor corner in and thought surely the ref will blow any minute.
3, Forgot where he was.
4, All the above

Some of the players clearly cannot deal with the pressure of playing infront of 18,000.

Fuck off to Yeovil or some other no mark side of you cannot take the fans expectations.

Thought I'd never say this about a player of our own but McMahon really is a prick. Genuinely haven't warned to him since signing and he's not even a good full back in this day and age. Aside from the odd free kick he offers nothing going forward. Doyle's an arsehole too while I'm at it. No pleasure from watching these two masquerading as footballers all season.

I agree abut McMahon - thick as sh!t. He was booked for arguing and 5 minutes later he needlessly hacked down their winger. It was as if he wanted to be sent off but to be honest he gives that impression most games. I'd have subbed him at half time as he looked a cert to be sent off. Like most of the team he is far too slow and often resorts to hacking down the opposing player - as well as constantly arguing with the officials. As you say, his only redeeming feature is the occasional decent free kick.

This is the worst season for home performances in many years, given the dire standard of opposition. And for the first time I can remember we don't have a single quality player. A few - McDonald, Collins, Maguire - are decent but inconsistent at this level but that's as good as it gets. I suppose that's what happens when you sell all your best players year after year.

Stop press on 'players who were shit in red and white but are doing better now.'

Peter Bogdanovich
Brian Howard

How shit does that sound?

Fruity Bunn and Legs'o'wood

Its the strip. It's the badge. Its Sheffield United, innit?

McMahon appears so arrogant and cocksure of himself, he is a part of the "untouchable" clique that has developed over the course of the season. Other members include, Kitson, Higgonbotham and Robson. To be a member you have to recommend a player you have played with previously to Danny Wilson, and then take on an agents role in facilitating the deal.

Personality traits of the "untouchable" crew include but are not limited to, experience, know how and nous.

Nah - nobody can slag off players like Unitedites.

The Higg got dropped as soon as Hill returned from injury.

Complete guff. Too easy to blame the fans. Blades have historically been a gritty, honest bunch who say it like we see it and despite some of the shite we've put up with we still turn out in fantastic numbers hoping and praying for the best. If a player is shite, as many of ours are at the moment then what's the point coming on here and lying? If they're wank then say so, doesn't make a jot of difference. Rather tell it like it is than make out we're something we aren't, doesn't mean we're slagging anybody off, just pointing out that some of our players are crap. Do you disagree? Do you think our starting eleven are all good players?

I firmly believe that if teams attacked us from the off at the Lane they would basically win the game by HT. Unfortunately I fear that Brentford and Swindon will know this.

Damn right they would/will. Yet some still persist with the nonsense that visiting teams 'park the bus'. To put Monday in perspective, Carlisle arrived with the highest number of goals conceded in this division - seventy - and we barely laid a finger on them.
