Current squad: (28 players):-
GK:- Long, Howard (2)
DF:- McMahon, Westlake, Maguire, Collins, Hill, McGinty, Williams (7)
MF:- Flynn, Doyle, Lappin, White, Baxter, Cuvelier, Coady, McGinn, Brandy, Murphy, McFadzean, Johns (12)
CF:- Porter, Miller, Taylor, King, Ironside, Bunn, De Girolamo (7)

What a total mess the current squad is with 28 players and very few worthy of a place.
The good news is that over half of them are out contract in June 2014.

Under contract next season (13 players):-
GK:- Long (1)
DF:- Maguire, Collins, McGinty (3)
MF:- Doyle, Baxter, Cuvelier, McGinn, Brandy, Murphy (6)
FW:- Taylor, Ironside, De Girolamo (3)

We just need to survive this season and give Clough the backing to start again from scratch next season.

Though I think Doyle's stick is a bit disproportionate of late - it's stunning that he's still around next season. That's the juggling to get under FFP rules for you.

Other than that, It does look like we've got a nice template / clean slate from to build on next season.

I'd happily keep most of next years list, but happily lose the lot at the same time.

Has there ever been a time when you could almost unanimously call for a complete culling of the entire squad? I doubt it.

Makes you want to discover a safe mechanism for time travel doesn't it?

:(

What a shower of shite

From yesterday's team McMahon, Hill, Flynn and Porter (one year option) are out of contract next season.

If they maintain their improved levels of form under Clough should we be looking to extend their contracts in July?

It seemed unthinkable only two months ago but we are after all going to need a competitive squad. Evolution rather than revolution?

Id give Flynn another year but Porter & McMahon can leave for me.

Flynn should get an extension

Hill and Porter should get extensions if we are unable to find solid replacements

Some of them are perhaps playing for contracts now. I would keep Flynn around, maybe give him a year extension because he's improved massively of late. His general performance and goal yesterday was superb.

I have been one to have a pop at both Hill and Flynn, but under Mr Clough both should get another year for how they have been performing, also McMahon has to be worth another year at this level?

Clough will be with a decent set of players end of the season to build a squad around, glad to see certain names are finished end of the season.

not a bad squad in the making there, goals could be the problem as always, ironside is no where near good enough atm, I would keep McMahon and Flynn, im sure we can get some other decent defenders and strikers. we need a Porter type striker as well tho, one who can do more and score more ideally.

things are looking up with a lot of poor players soon to leave
