as hull are top of the league and a Premiership team I suppose a point away from home would have been a reasonable result before the game. Unfortunately this was not so as the game was there to be won. Hull had a Centre Back sent off earlier on and from the resultant penalty Hallum slotted the ball away with his usual composure. We then dominated the rest of the first half but Hull's keeper kept them in the game. Hull still managed to test out Long who again played well but we could not manage to get an other goal. We did have out a Very young side and played with 3 Centre backs Graham, Semple and Kelly who all played well. In my humble opinion we missed Reed and Brooks. Jake Wright was also a big miss for us.
Hull got organised at the interval and went into a deep defensive shape and when they got a goal back from a hit on the break it was clear they were happy to settle for the draw. We were able to play along the back and Semple, who plays out from the back, couldn't find anyone to capitalise on his passes. We never seemed to widen the game until later on when Kelly started to push on down the left. We should have taken three points but in truth Long still made two excellent blocks.
I'm still trying to get into the 3 centre backs formation. Against Rotherham it worked well but we had an agressive midfield 5 yesterday was a bit flat until we went wide with Kelly. Still a lot of good intentions by our players and on to the next game
Regarding the playing of the game after Hulls game against Bournmouth Hull did manage to retain a couple of hundred fans but they reserved their voices for the referee. The KCOM's playing surface, never very great due to Rugby sharing, was poor and I wonder if the dimming of the floodlights at half time was another cunning plan to salvage something from the game.
