Just doing a wednesday fan thing
They can talk up a run v 2 non league clubs a division 4 team 2 teams with 10 men 1 with 9
2 teams blackpool and leeds in horrendous runs and 5 out of 8 home games in the league

We are unbeaten at home in 2014
are the only team in the country to have won away at 2 premier clubs
highest attendances in the league last weekend

lets try this positivity thing
ask an owl about finishing 16th in div one in 2010 they cant remember it
we seem to remember every bad game we ever have , I wonder why

Because they're deluded cunts and trying to emulate them in any way is surely the way to madness.

If you don't think avoiding defeat in two consecutive League 1 home fixtures is worthy of an open top bus parade I'd say it's you that's the c word Greks.

I've looked into open top buses and there are several companies doing deals at the moment "due to the weather" the last commercial manager said.

Ii we won one of those games. Knocker

just think theres more ways of looking at things than some blades do , starting with the lowest common denominator
Some like to say , weve blown 4 play off finals , ok maybe we did , but surely the effort getting there shouldnt be dismissed as a waste of time, I enjoyed every one of those seasons

our porcine chums across the river don may have delusions of their status but you have to admire their positivity
they go into games thinking they can win, , we have, shall we say a tendancy to be cautious , no wrong word , down right manic depression about our future. Some on here if I or others put any slant of positivity , get a 15 year long recall of every defeat, not that Im saying its wrong to remember losing , just errs on the side of ,,, worrying, that people cling to the depressing moments in life, cant seem to move on
But hey ho what ever floats your boat, I shall continue to be positive about us as we look to win the FA cup this year and surge into 6th on the last day , deluded ? no being a proper fan , one that wants his club to win, might not happen but dreaming is part of being a fan , not having constant nightmares

Wednesday fans only want us to remember us losing in the play off finals , best theyve achieved this century is one 8th place , , if they had finished 3rd on several occasions in the championship wed never hear the end of it, they love it we agree with them we blew it , course they do .Their utter miserable failure to make one championship play off in 14 years is only assuaged by us feeling soRry for ourselves, the 80 and 90 points hauls we managed , well they never happened, if you dont see that their propagandas working on you , well

80 and 90 point hauls are somewhat irrelevant when considering they are in a league above us now.

On one hand people claim the pigs live off past glories, but then refer back to past seasons when we used to be above them.

Our past half-decent seasons matter not when we're scratching around for points in the relegation zone of the third tier.

I am relatively confident Clough will keep us up, but the deal is far from sealed. Let's not get too excited, eh?

But you're the only one who takes them seriously enough to want to emulate them!

Rest of us are just quite happy to let them spout their shite and call them cunts, rather than try and "out shite" them.

When we're above them, they're simply a minor irritant, when they have the upper hand I simply despise them a bit more.
Try and be like them? Why would anyone? Really, why?

Maybe BTL is one if them, after all I can see no other reason why anyone would suggest emulating the grunters.

emulate them ,
I want us to be positive about being a blade , WHEN DO THEY DO THAT
You know what I mean but choose to be flippant , again a negative stance , that does not shock me

"

is that a bit like Wigan won the FA cup but got relegated so they are shit now ?

Not really,no

As raul accurately responded, not really, no.

I don't really see how a good points haul in the second or third tier is an achievement akin to winning the most famous cup competition in the world. If you do, you live in a very strange world.

Oh, and Wigan were relegated to the league above us, so I can't take much comfort from that either.

Maybe it's me that's being miserable and it's actually great that we're in the lowest league position we've been in since I started watching the Blades, coupled with the fact that the pigs happen to be in a league above us. Please do point out what I'm missing, I'd be ever so grateful.

OK, I understand that.

Ah, so you weren't doing a wednesday fan thing then? My mistake, obviously.

Like I've said, I just think the deluded are a bunch of cunts. My favourite thing about fellow Blades is our ability not to take ourselves anywhere near as seriously as they do, so the worst it will ever get is flippancy between us I believe.

I take the Blades very seriously and have a laugh. They are a pillar of my life. I have moved around a lot and therefore feel at home inside Bramall lane more than any other place. Perils of being a seafarer I guess. However unlike Wendy I don't think we are a superclub asleep, I don't harp on about how big I think we are, and don't go bragging about runs we've had. I like the banter when we have beaten them which has been a lot since that 79 debacle.
The one thing I will never forgive Wendy fans for was their crowing in the 90's when they honestly thought that getting to the second round of the UEFA cup and losing to an unheard of German team put them up there with Barcelona, and still think it. That's why I have a pop at them. The last thing I would ever want to do is emulate them in any way, I can't speak for anyone else.

I never said emulate them just take a little of the positivity, but not just owls fans , pick any of the other 90 clubs, none of them are anywhere near as critical of their own team.We have developed our own identity , that of being morose fans with a glum outlook on every angle, if theres an angle where a detrimental comment will fit in , we put in 100 s , a look at any thread and if anyone puts in , any comment within 3 posts theres someone being 100%negatrive pointing out we lost this game here or whats the point we will only blow then later ,
We have turned being negative into an art form , we could beat Man City 7-1 in the FA cup semi this season
and most will moan about the goal we let in #

History, tradition, results, the fact we are the Sheffield club, the areas our support was drawn from compared to South Barnsley. Several possible causative factors as to why two clubs from the same city have supporters with such a different outlook. Maybe it is that the origins meant our support was largely drawn from the inner city, working areas giving that dour often resigned attitude and their support drawn from the suburbs and out of the city having a morepositive and optimistic view.

Whatever the cause and origins, there is a dfference. Personally I have always found the realism of Blades leads to a more pleasurable experience when things go right. Hence the comments elsewhere about the atmosphere at BDTBL for the bigger games. Optimism leads to bigger disappointments and the tears and devastation that accompany it. Maybe that is why they have the more fickle following, but can attract bigger crowds for the one-off game?

Give me the Blades mantra anyday. "If it can go wrong, it will go wrong. And even if it can't, the Blades will find a way to cock it up!"

Can't beat keeping a clean sheet

We've had a few managers in the past who thought that was the way to go instead of scoring goals and look where we are now

Of course, you couldn't move for the pessimism and moaning on here following our results against Villa and Fulham. o_O

I really hope your posts are written in jest, otherwise you really are making yourself look quite silly.

When things go well, most Blades will be happy, but we are also not completely brain dead and acknowledge the fact that, whilst we got brilliant results against two Premier League teams, all three of which (results) have been extremely enjoyable and remind us of what is good about being a football fan, we sit in a dire position in the league and this needs to improve as soon as possible.

Be happy, be pleased, but don't be blind to the faults and imperfections, especially when they're so glaringly obvious.
