unattached XI -
Goalkeeper - Shay Given.

Defence - Jan Kirchoff, Marcin Wasilewski, Sebastien Bassong, Kolo Toure, Joleon Lescott.

Midfield - Joe Ledley, Mathieu Flamini, Youssouf Mulumbu.

Attack - Giuseppe Rossi, Rickie Lambert.

Wasilewski is knocking on but would be a good hard bastard to have who can also play a bit.

Would also replace the missing bearded player we've now lost.

Joe Ledley on bench for Wales surely an option

Probably the only player I'd like to see us bring in on a free. Only issue would be they'd be plenty of other clubs wanting to sign him too.

Loads on there for us to go for
Many of them would be perfect.
No existing club

Desperate agent trying to set something/anything sorted for them

No competition

Absolutely perfect for us

Fair play to Ledley - retiring from club football to concentrate on Wales.

He's the one I'd be after if warnocks not already got something sorted. Think he can certainly still do it at this level.

Bloody hell, here was me, thinking this was a thread about a new reality show, where unmarried footballers go on dates, a bit like love Island but without botox.

Only a couple of overage British players on the list. All the others have funny names. Nowt there for our Chris.:) Overage donkeys!

Wasn't Rusescu shit-hot in one of the Football Manager games?

Ledley would be a very good signing, but I can't see it happening.

I'd be tempted to offer Spearing a contract until January and see how it goes.

Definitely think Ledley would be a great acquisition, if we could get him. I don't think it's too much of an issue that it'd take a few weeks to get him up to pace with our system given how well Fleck and Coutts have played in the last couple of games.

Rickie Lambert would be a half decent acquisition for me. Not pacey but very handy.

Lambert would be fine if we didn't have Sharp but they're unlikely to play together. Fryatt might be a risk worth taking if we didn't have Evans struggling to get over old injuries after years out of the game and Lavery out too. With what else is available, the Donaldson signing looks a very good move, similar to Sharp in that Championship is about the limit of his abilities, but unlike a lot of what was available, he has a proven record at this level, isn't a few years past his best and actually has some pace, most of these free agents miss at least one of the attributes that Donaldson has, even if at their peak they were much better than him.

Wonder if Wilder and the team have got a link to this site. Higdon, secondary position, right wing which might be a bit off the mark but still

None of that lot.

Can't keep fit....and we have a small issue with that and Evans as it is. We need strikers who can play a run of games and get some touch going.

Apparently Burton paid it up.
I would really like to know what the terms of the mutual termination were. Mutual termination means that both club and player agreed to terminate but that might involve a payment being made. It seems unlikely that JB would agree to waive all the salary due to him for the balance of the contract (is it one year) but may have accepted a lesser lump sum to reflect accelerated payment and the fact that he was getting a new longer contract from Burton albeit at a lesser wage (presumably). May be Burton agreed to pay some or all of the lump sum in order to get the deal through which would be the equivalent of them paying a transfer fee except all the money would go to the player not us. Anyway his wages are now off the books and we and he move forward. Another expensive mistake caused by a previous manager! KM must be tearing his hair out.

Only a mistake with hindsight :(

Let's face it, when John Brayford arrived, he quickly became a fan favourite. He popped up in local pubs with his girlfriend and chatted to anyone who wanted to talk, never aloof or playing the big "I am". He was outstanding when we beat Fulham 1-0 at their place, in the cup. Non stop bombing down the wings and often got into good positions to shoot. I remember the crowd going nuts when he scored against Charlton in a sold out BDTBL.

When we played Hull at Wembley, half the crowd were wearing John Brayford masks or false beards.

He took a wage cut to come to SUFC, let's not forget that.

It's not the fault of any player if a club is naive enough to offer them a long contract on big money, anyone of us would snatch their hand off in the same position.

He's gone now, but let's not forget the good times, let's stop slagging him off.

Don't dispute the good things he did and the "good times" we had with him but it was ridiculous to spend that amount in terms of transfer money and wages which would have been better spent on say 3 really good L1 players to get us promoted albeit NC did not have any record of buying such players.
We move on....

PS I meant to say I have nothing against JB personally and am not "slagging him off". But his acquisition was poor management by NC which must have been sanctioned by the Bpard at some point.

Maybe they were just trying to show us that they were being "ambitious" by paying out for a good player?
Probably won't fall for that one again :)

Not arguing with that mate, but as I said, that's not the players fault. Those days are behind us now that CW and AK are here.

Agreed

I'm quite surprised Joe Ledley hasn't been snapped up.

If not just for the beard alone!

We are one midfielder light and the one type we are missing is the combative type. He'd be decent on a 12 month deal.

"Board" @ fault for sanctioning 'over' spending on Brayford
"Board" @ fault for NOT backing Tufty

He turned down Crystal Palace's offer of a new 1 year deal. Plus offers from China, Israel, Turkey and Spain.
