Awful news. Very fond memories of Ugo at the lane. Thoughts very much with his family and friends.

bloody awful ... RIP ugo
remember singing your name at barnsley away about 8 year ago when u got red carded.

minuites silence or applause at MK now surely?

Red carded for a headbutt so good that the Barnsley player (Colace?) got red carded for being on the receiving end of it!

Terrible news, I was at Villa Park when he scored his only goal for England in a friendly against Spain - Sven's first game.

RIP Big Man

I was in England in the Early 90's looking at football in schools in Hackney. One teacher, Alan Hutchinson, had won the Hackney Schools cup at virtually every school he had been at. He had won one year with Holy Trinity Primary which was a one form entry, meaning he had about 17 players to choose from. This was compared to most schools being 2-4 form entry. I asked him how. He said that year he had had a young lad called Ugo Ehiogu who played centre half and centre forward in the same game at the same time. Class. RIP Ugo.

His experience and professionalism was an essential assett to the team. I wish we'd had him earlier in his career.

One of the good things that Bryan Robson brought to the club was Ugo.

I think the ONLY good thing about Robson was his name helped to attract big players.

I assumed Ugo would just be turning up for a wage packet (a la Hendrie, Carney, Naysmith etc) but he really got stuck in and became a cult hero very quickly. It was all down to his 100% committed attitude and professionalism.

We have always loved a trier at the Lane but he was so much more than that.

RIP.

RIP Ugo was a great player for his brief time here. I have a signed shirt of his.

Would walk into today's England team and would easily get 50 caps.

Excellent player and by all accounts a lovely bloke as well.

Rip Ugo.

Really sad to hear about Ugo. A really decent defender and he became a cit of a cult hero during his time with us.

I rated Naysmith. And lets not forget Sir James of Beattie MK1

He passed much too soon.

Why do the good die young? A family man and all round decent human being. A cruel world we live in at times. RIP in football heaven Ugo.

My daughter's first season watching and he was one of her favourites, she wondered why fans booed him. RIP Ugo, thoughts with your family
