I hear what you both say. Maybe the strategies for the Academy are written down somewhere. But, the de facto strategies that are in place (my interpretation) include.
It's a Development Team. Fully formed, First Team players are very much the exception.
It must take the kids out of their comfort zone. Talent Through Trauma.
While you & I might disagree with that - it's clearly what they are doing.
Playing very young players, above their weight, in fixtures that come think n fast implements those strategies.
This is the first year we have entered the Central League Cup in recent times. I believe that was fairly deliberately so that there would be more games & they'd come thick & fast. Again, you & I might disagree with the logic of doing that. But, as it happens, I take a fairly benign view. Get games in, pull the boots on, look at the results in the paper.
