Did even the Pigs not want Ayari?

Looking forward to seeing Marsh go out on loan next season, presumably.

Does anyone think the little piggies will catch us up, they're only 25 points behind now.

I'm sure the Stir will do an article soon about how the fledgling fowls are ripping up the league... Always like to be factually correct and totally without any bias, do the Stir.

They almost mutually wanked themselves into next month when the great white hope that was George Hirst scored a goal in foreign international tournament. The same tournament where a certain David Brooks was named tournament star player and barely got a mention from our totally unbiased local rag.

Luckily they are irrelevant and no one reads it these days. Tony Pritchett would be banging a few heads together if he was still around.

No words needed...

As I've pointed out before, it would be good for our U21s to finally win the National U21 Third Division title. And get that monkey off our back. Sheffield Wednesday being the only Sheffield club to ever win it.

Do the powers that be in the academy consider that a big thing Phil? I always thought the academy mantra was about producing first team ready players rather than winning leagues. Obviously it’s a nice addition but I’m happier seeing we’ve produced 3 England players (4 with Ramsdale but aware we brought him in from Bolton) and had no idea Wednesday had even won it.

Genuine question by the way not playing devil’s advocate.

Genuine answer. I don't know. I do get a bit sick of people digging out the SWFC Academy just to keep up the pretend hatred. My explanation that they've won it & we haven't was a reaction to that.

But ... how's about my personal observation anyway.

In their offices, with the Key Performance Indicators writ large on the whiteboard, the Academy staff will be driven by player development, producing first team ready players, as you say.

But, on Saturday mornings & Monday tea times, with the tracksuit on, and a touchline to be paced, it's winning, winning & winning.

That doesn't sound mad does it? That's what you might expect. And, there are those wonderful real time moments, when the Academy coaching staff do the opposite. When they make it more difficult for their own team. To see how they cope. To see what they've got.

It's no secret I thought Binnion was a very impressive young man. Manchester United think so as well. He once said to me....

Phil, if the first time we find out he hasn't got it is for the first team in front of 25 thousand at the Lane, then I've failed.

It's a balance....
