We're not busy trying to provide a 'pathway for our youngsters' we're cutting the wage bill any way we can. We're desperate for some attacking quality in wide positions but we've let Khan go and told Heh to find another club.

The academy is not an excuse for not bringing in quality loan players.
Adkins has mentioned it several times in interviews BB,about providing a pathway, which is probably why DCL and Reed are on the bench...maybe the 2 lads Heh and Khan were deemed not good enough to get near the first team at this point,on top of the need to cut the wage bill..we really need 2 or 3 to come in and hit the ground running.

Despite everything this season, I would suggest we are not in a relegation dogfight!

A poor performance, in a poor game against the Leagues best side IMO, but plenty of points to play for, wouldn`t rule out the play offs yet, but obviously we need to start a run like we did in December.

Treeton , Cyprus is cock on . We are not in a relegation dog fight - yet .

Things soon can change and never say never with SUFC . We know this for a fact , as it's happened before , especially when you have a set of players not good enough or even worst , not up for a fight .

I know he's mentioned it a few times but I don't believe that is the reason we are not signing young loan players from PL clubs.

In fact, I don't believe we are doing it at all, there are no players to create a pathway for apart from DCL and Reed and we did nothing in the JTW to create a pathway for either of them. If he wants to create a pathway, try playing DCL instead of Sammon.

I didn't think I would say this but how many points do we need to accumulate to be mathematically certain of not going down? By then I think the play-offs will be a distant pipedream and Adkins should play the players he intends to keep and fill the remaining spots from the u/21's until the end of the season.

How many times have we done it , been there , got the tee shirt . This squad is full of players who could quite easily get us in to a relegation dog fight , but couldn't get us out of one.

Adkins needs to know the points required to be mathametically certain of not going down.

Only a fool or novice would think it could never happen to us.

I almost wish it would happen as it would probably bring things to a head one way or another.

Whiteman and Ramsdale are the best two prospects for me. Whiteman's range of passing and as mentioned above, his delivery from set pieces is good.

I do like the look of one or two of the first year's we've brought through but it's always too early to tell. If three of the academy side make it to the first team then the academy is doing it's job. We still have a lot of our old youngsters in the lower leagues and that's still an excellent production rate for any academy.
All that's true daz our rating is so good because of us producing a lot of players even if most are in low divisions no academy produces stars all the time but to have so many making a living out of the game is a big plus for our academy. Che Gordon I think is still only 16 and one or two others are pushing apart from the two you mentioned so maybe we have one or two stars in the making, but it's a long hard road to come through.

Maybe it's more the club/board's policy to try and bring our home grown players through, otherwise what's the point of an academy..and maybe ideally Adkins would rather bring in alternatives, but has to bow down to those who employ hiim,I don't know...and his way of providing a pathway is to give Reed the odd 20 minutes and put DCL on the bench...To me,it seems like a lot of other L1 teams are bringing in young players who are ready from higher leagues, with pace, skill and mobilty, and are making an impact on games and improving the teams we run up against, often standing out.

I think we are now on the same page.

Jagielka, Montgomery and Tonge had already been blooded in the first team by the age of 17.,

Only Tonge has played in a few Academy matches (we started having an Academy in 2001). Jags had been at Everton until he was 15, Monty was at L**ds, Tonge was at Man U until he was nearly 16. Monty's first team debut was when he was nearly 19, he had not played for several months in 1999 or 2000 because he was ill with Meningitis

Be interesting to see who's released at the end of the season. I don't watch enough of the u21's but I know there's a couple of potential stars.

The ones abit older Gordon, Brunt, Broadbent etc i could see leaving. (21 and older)

Anyone got a full list of the academy players and their contract situations?

The club used to announce the list of Academy players being released but they seem to have stopped doing this in the last few years
