Under 18s 4-2 Peterborough - report
United's Under 18s extended their unbeaten start to the league season with a deserved but hard-fought 4-2 win at home to Peterborough.www.sufc.co.uk
From the highlights clips, he also seems to time his runs into the box and finish very well.Very interested in how peck develops had a strong reputation at arsenal and seems a very different type to the other talented midfielders in the academy in that he seems a conductor in the Norwood role.
Yeah the current crop of midfielders seems very strong with arblaster, Maguire, Brooks and Peck granted they’re a year or two away but they all look like good footballers. From the highlights clips, he also seems to time his runs into the box and finish very well.
Arblaster looks a real prospect to me, box to box, decent range of passing, likes a tackle.Yeah the current crop of midfielders seems very strong with arblaster, Maguire, Brooks and Peck granted they’re a year or two away but they all look like good footballers.
Yeah that’s how I see it as well wouldn’t surprise me to see arblaster go to league two or maybe turn up in Southend with brunt and lopata.Arblaster looks a real prospect to me, box to box, decent range of passing, likes a tackle.
Saw him for Bradford Pa, and at 17, didn't look out of place in a very tough league.
I reckon his recall is to assess him in training, and maybe place him at a football league club next.
Brooks hasn't progressed from his outstanding season last year, one or two injury niggles have hampered him.
Maguire is growing every game, glad hes replaced Arblaster at Bradford, will do him the world of good.
Peck has all the ability in the world, (and he knows it)
If he sorts one or two things out, he'll be a top player.
I’d put them in front of them at present and think both will make careers in the game I just think Broadbent is approaching that age now at 20 where it’s about getting him sorted out with a club and letting him go and make a career rather than seeing where he’d fit for united as I’d expect him to have featured by that age if he was going to do so unless of course he takes a big leap very soon. United have always seemed fairly cutthroat when it comes to keeping the pathway clear for young midfielders. Reed making way for slater and now I think potentially slater and broadbent may make way for this next crop.Wouldn't you say that Broadbent & Neal, both on higher level & longer loans than those mentioned, are ahead of the pack of our Academy Midfielders?
Neal can look slow and cumbersome and in terms of touch and skill he's not in the same league as a few of the others.I’d put them in front of them at present and think both will make careers in the game I just think Broadbent is approaching that age now at 20 where it’s about getting him sorted out with a club and letting him go and make a career rather than seeing where he’d fit for united as I’d expect him to have featured by that age if he was going to do so unless of course he takes a big leap very soon. Neal is an interesting case in that people seem to rate him and his work rate and passing range are good but he’s always struck me as an awkward footballer I don’t know if it’s his running style or his touch but there’s always something which makes me question him.
Yeah I think he’ll make a career for himself and I remember thinking the same about whiteman and he’s made a great career in the game although I think whiteman was a touch more athletic.Neal can look slow and cumbersome and in terms of touch and skill he's not in the same league as a few of the others.
But he's strong and loves a tackle and I think the U23s play better when he's in holding midfield, enabling the other, more skilful players to go forward. So he'll give balance and complement other players in a lot of teams, but it remains to be seen at which level.
I see what you mean about neal but there’s just something about him which makes him good. Controlled that midfield even when up against Byers and luongo when the u23s played WednesdayI’d put them in front of them at present and think both will make careers in the game I just think Broadbent is approaching that age now at 20 where it’s about getting him sorted out with a club and letting him go and make a career rather than seeing where he’d fit for united as I’d expect him to have featured by that age if he was going to do so unless of course he takes a big leap very soon. Bit of a flat track bully thenI see what you mean about neal but there’s just something about him which makes him good. Controlled that midfield even when up against Byers and luongo when the u23s played Wednesday
I think Neal has a great attitude and application on the pitch a real desire not to be beaten and that’s what allows him to enforce his will on games.I see what you mean about neal but there’s just something about him which makes him good.
